I eventually managed to escape that big oaf of a gorilla that kept beating me round my head, but now, I'm at a loss of where to go. The tip.it quest guide is telling me to go places to find the seargeant, but I can't seem to find him with those directions, and I don't want to die! Can someone do me a favour and mark on this map the general area where he is then re-upload it for me?

The sergeant's name is Garkor.

I feel that his circle should be an oval extending down to the area next to that little building a little south from his circle.

You'll easily beable to see Garkor from the area I circled. He won't far away.

ah! Thank you very much. I didn't look around much there because someone else was in that very area and asking where he was, I assumed they were in fact a sensible person who had looked thoroughly. Here's hoping I don't die any time soon, or my RoL turns out to be useful.

 

As it turns out, lag was my greatest enemy, I manage to just scrape through without dying after dancing halfway across the island. The route originally suggested by you couldn't be taken either, so I had to run past everything else on the other side of the temple.
