Good reason to learn japanese?

Featured Replies

If you're interested in Chinese or Japanese, the best advice I can give to you is to start now. It takes years to become fluent in a language, and if you start now, in a couple of years you'll be nearly fluent (if you practice daily). If you have the opportunity, I would truly recommend living in Japan, as you'll be forced to pick up the language. If you live there, don't hang out with expats--it sounds mean, but it will help you pick up Japanese much more quickly.

If you do be careful, it is a lot harder than you think... You dont just learn how to draw the characters, you learn which order to draw them in, what they mean in english and how to pronounce them using pinjin. It gets harder as you study it for longer.

that is the evil part of the whole symbolic language system.

Are wa hon de, kore wa zasshi desu.

Just had to. The big problem with Japanese, is the grammar. (Getting it right.) Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji... Been studying Japanese for 2 years now, and still stressing. #-o

Yeah Japanese is hard, but its so much easier than Chinese. I mean like 4 tones for Mandarin (and I heard like 7 for Kantanese), and so many different characters. At least Japanese has an alphabet.

But figuring out when to say what (adverbs, adjectives, and all that) is difficult for both languages.

Katakana is the one with aphlabet, if you want to put it that way? (thanks for the name Sue_Kitsu)

Most of the video games use this Katankana system. which I really want to learn.

kanji is basicly chinese letters and hiragana is the one I never understand, the only symbol that I know is "no"

Hiragana is the most used in Japanese. While Katakana is used for the foreign words. (Like chocolate), and there is writed in Hiragana over the Katakana (Usually)

While Kanji often is for places, city names, mountains etc, etc.

Edit: "No" in Japanese is "Iie, iie no", and "yes" is "hai" :P
