What happened at the old item dupe scandal???

Featured Replies

Hi i used to play rsc around when the party hats were first droppped. I never actually got one though, i wasnt goin to on runescape on runescape on christmas day!

I quit runescape not long after and started playing a year ago on RS2, therefore i pretty much mist everything major that happened from 2003 - 2005.

Anyway people have been talking about some item duping thing with party hats and what not.

I'm just wondering, since i wasnt playing at the time, What on earth happened.

i know there's definately a thread about this, try searching for it. newayz, someone was able to duplicate items using low lvl accounts to take the heat for it. that's all i know.

I've alredy posted this brief history somewhere 12 hours ago. The party hats becam very rare and valuble because few people got them to start with then some people who hjad them quits, or people died with them in inventory. Then some people figured out how to duplicate the hats. It almost ruined the runescape economy. Also people started paying real money for hats that were duped and then jagex deleted all non genuine hats. Thats the reason that Jagex implamented the new holiday item system. questions?

ill go for the first option of thread searching. Im a bit weary of that link.

Be as "weary" as you want, but if you want the full story anyone who knows about it will say that links good.
