Post here your letters to the gods!

So, you composed a big nice letter to either one of the gods of Runescape, but are upset since it was not published and you didn't get a reply? Or hope that it will be published next issue, but can't resist the wait? Well, at least you can share your letter with the rest of us here!

This is a letter I sent to Zamorak two days ago:

To the God of Chaos and Destruction, Zamorak;

As a Deity of not only chaos, but conquest and force, you are well aware that many beats one, and that power is best enforced in large numbers under a single (preferably your) banner. In the lands where you rule, commonly referred to as simply the "Wilderness", as well as in the common lands of Gielinor, your minions team together in order to seed fear and chaos among the local population, and they do a fine job at that, may I add. Even the less-intelligent of your monsters, such as goblins or even common spiders, have (in most cases) enough sense as to not attack each other, so that their common effort can be directed against whoever stands in their path.

Unfortunately, the current laws and customs of Gielinor do not allow human beings to unite in one party under a single banner. All agreements between the people are only based on trust, which frequently causes cowardice and betrayal in the field of battle. To a point it's fun, sure. After all, as a God of Chaos, there are few things you enjoy more then seeing a foolish human backstabbed by a fellow "friend". However, looking at the bigger picture of enforcement of power, such a disorganized force poses a problem, since it does not allow for a single, united army to exist without inner conflicts. Even you, Zamorak, may face a challenge under the current system, when it is time to muster your followers on whatever objectives you may pursue.

Therefore, I propose that human beings should be able to gather in groups and parties, within which they would not be able to attack each other. Furthermore, their common fighting effort could also be rewarded with a shared factor of earned combat experience. Party leaders, the strongest and most willful humans in the realm, should be able to organize their party ranks, recruit the strong and dismiss the unworthy.

We may be simple mortals, Zamorak, but our power is truly great in numbers, and allowing us to unite under a single cause may open new possibilities you never thought were possible.

I like that, but they usually choose letters that they'd be able to have a witty response to. See, with your letter, it's a great idea, but the only thing he can say is 'great idea. Maybe I should do that.'

I might not make sense, as it's entering the wee hours of the morning. I did write Sar. a letter once, but I don't have it anymore.

Btw, you've been making some high quality posts I've been noticing. :D

Yes, it's a pity that the gods use their letters purely as entertainment, rather then at least sometime answer popular questions and tell about game development.

But this reminds me, that when I pasted the letter in the e-mail, I made a last minute change. In the "muster your followers" line I added as possible reason the rising of ZAROS. I think that will give him enough ground to be witty (or the opposite) about. :P

As for the posts - thanks, I write editorials from time to time, that's where the experience is from. :P

I would like to see that question in one of the future newsletters, but I doubt they will choose it from the simple questions(like adam said, which they can reply "humorously" to) which are no doubt asked by people still learning the game :?

I have never written to the "gods" purely because I have read which type of questions they publish and the way they answer them. I would consider asking one if they were answered seriously. Perhaps two sets of newsletters should be published - one from the gods, and one from a jagex employee(which would be strictly answering decent questions). I wouldn't mind if there was one of those, say once every month or every few months.

Another good topic which I will look forward to reading :P

Before posting newsletters on the site, they used to e-mail them to subscribers. They stopped because of scammers. Anyways, in the old e-mail letters, there were two parts to each letter: the first part is a "behind-the-scenes" editorial from Jagex, the second part what we see now - humorous responses from the gods.

The humor is fun to an extent, but I wish they kept the first part. There is a "behind the scenes" tag to some news items on Runescape.com, but it's very rare and not very detailed.

Yep I know. I still have a few in my inbox :) I liked it when they did that. I've not also seen an behind the scenes news item in a while :?
