The Tale Of The Haunted Woods

Featured Replies

I am sure many readers will have, at some time, crossed the Haunted Woods that lie between the werewolf trading outpost of Canafis and Port Phasmatys, a real ghost town (pun intended). I am sure those that have crossed it will also know, that it serves home to many foul creatures, to name a few the giant bloodsucking leech, the vampire (or vampyre), and the lesser Morytanian soil bee (little known).

My story is of these woods.

I may begin, with my Slayer assignment to kill twenty vampires. I pressed the Slayer Master, but all he would say was that the haunted woods are in between some Canafis and a ghost port.

Canafis was familiar to me, and I asked around to see whether I could find out more about vampire slaying, and ended up talking to Roavar, the local bartender at the 'Hair On The Dog' tavern.

He wouldn't tell me much, but he suggested some Holy equipment. I went to my bank, and manage to find a Holy Symbol Of Saradomin. I also brought my longsword, an apple pie, a salmon and a chocolate bar (my lunch).

I crept into the woods, hiding beside some trees which I later found to be hollow.

Suddenly, I heard a rustling behind me. I turned around, just in time to see a giant leech leap towards my pack, I swung my longsword, connected, and tore the leech to pieces, slime spattering me.

Though I didn't know, high above my head, a bat was watching me. It smiled to itself then flew of into the night.

I pressed, on, content that once they saw the remains that were stuck to my clothes, the other leeches would keep away. I heard a droning sound coming from just past a large bush. I poked my head around he bush, then drew it straight back again.

Behind the bush a swarm of Morytanian soil bees were feasting away and the body of a dead goblin, who seemed to have inadvertently slipped and drowned in the surrounding bog.

I turned around, startling a bat, which was ominously perched on a branch. It flew away, screeching, but then it came back, and morphed into some kind of dishevelled man, who man covered in dried blood. A vampire. I swung out towards him with my sword and it banged against his arm. The sword broke. :ohnoes:

I tried to run, but he was quicker. He sunk he teeth into my neck, then I was falling, falling, falling.

I woke up. Last nights events came back to me. I was still in the woods, but had somehow survived then vampire attack.

Then I heard the droning. I followed then sound, and it came to the clearing were I had been attacked. Hundreds of soil bees were feasting on something in the middle. They parted as I walked over, revealing a dead body, and a little headstone. My dead body. My headstone.

I was a vampire.

Not bad. There are some typos, but nothing so bad that I couldn't work out what you were trying to say. Are there really soil bees in the swamp or is that something you just added on your own? You might re-think your ending just a little bit, I like the idea, but you might leave out the bit about the headstone (How did it get there? A headstone implies that you were buried but the bees were eating your corpse).

Perhaps you can do another chapter telling about your life as a vampire? Is there still a story section in these forums? If so, you might get more responses there.

I made up the bees lol. I thouht this was the storyboard. I admit it's a bit dodgy, but I only had 5 minutes.
