Computer Trouble, or Runescape?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just started playing Runescape again this week.

Usually about 10 times a day it does this:

Logs me out randomly.

When I click to walk, it takes about 20 seconds before it starts walking. (It's not lag, becuase it STARTS walking, it doesn't run to catch up or go straight to where I tell it to go.)

It takes an extra 5 seconds to do practically ANYTHING in the same manner as above, this is extremly annoying.

I've recently gotten rid of all the extra files on my computer, and my dad came by and did some virus scanning and stuff and got rid of those, so I don't know why it's acting up.

If this is the wrong forum i'm sorry, mods feel free to move it.

I'm not saying this will work (because it depends on the relative age of your computer) - but I was having this problem myself.

I was advised to download a new version of Java (I went there from the RS page where it asks you to select high or low detail - down at the bottom is a select java window and there's a link to get more info).

The "latest and greatest" Java version gave me MORE PROBLEMS. I think my computer was too old to use it properly (800MHz machine ). So be careful which version you decide to get.

I think I finally went back to an older Java version, but I also did a lot of cache cleanouts. One odd thing that was really bogging down my computer was that my Netscape Download Manager had over 1000 entries in it, because I end up downloading a *lot* of tiny images for fansite databases, lol.

Clearing that out helped me a LOT.

Good luck.

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.
