question about memory upgrades

alrighty...this is my first laptop..and i fought my school as to which laptop i get...but i lost of course

 

 

 

it's a Tablet pc, a Gateway M285...

 

 

 

now..it came witha single gig of Samung ddr2 pc4300 at 4-4-4-11...and i am upgrading to 2GB

 

 

 

my question is...shuld i match the brand, frequency, and latency of the original? or would the operation be better if i went to 667 mhz and a much beter latency?

 

 

 

respond today if possible..i was gona purchase it today :D

Blade is completely right...so therefore get the exact same type of ram that you already have. But I must ask, do you really need 2gb of ram for your laptop? :shock:

Laptops are normal computers too, desktops benefit from 2gb of ram, so I don't see why laptops wouldn't :) .

 

 

 

I think you would see a speed increase going to 667mhz with better timings (maybe 4-4-4-10 @667mhz) but then you would need to replace all of the ram :( .

that's basically wat i thought... :cry:

 

 

 

i wanted to purchase the laptop with 0 RAM so i culd purchase a whole kit but of course they wuldnt let me lol

 

 

 

and i need 2GB b/c this is gonna be running Autodesk and stuff and it has no separate video ram...it steals the physical memory

Of course they will. Just build your own laptop. It's just like building a small desktop.

 

 

 

If you read the first post you would see that he already has the laptop. If you don't know what your talking about, don't post.
