the "you have to be searched b4 you can board" thing? is there a quest to get rid of it?

yeah you have to finish the Pirates Treasure f2p quest - that is if you are talking about the ship in Port Sarim to get to Karajima.

 

 

 

After that quest is done you can just go to one of the ship workers or customs agents and right click on them and have the option to pay up front.
