Slayer_Adam7 Posted September 3, 2006 Share Posted September 3, 2006 Always find your light source. Once you find your light source, you make everything near it lighter and gradually get darker. Also, make sure that it doesnt look like big different colour rectangle blocks. Try to make really small ones and gradually change shade. Also, start by coloring the highlights (brightest areas) of the object you're going to shade. Continues surrounding the highlights with darker colors to get the desired effect. Also, dithering is your friend in blending colors but don't overuse it. IT's a blend, not a way to create a whole new shade. More than 1 layer of dithering usually becomes noticable ot the eye. Here's something I've been working on (StarCraft \) that uses a lot of dithering. If you zoom in on the red portions of the marine you see the zig-zag pattern of two colors like this: ...@...@...@...@ @...@...@...@...@ That's dithering.
