Dead_Dumb
YAY SMITHING... smells is 99 smithing worth it anymore? Smithing is actually one of my lowest skills. I'm level 76 Smithing atm and was wondering, is level 99 smithing worth it anymore? Rune armour costs nothing nowadays... I have almost 12 Rune Full sets, just missing a few pieces. Even if 99 was worth getting, I can totally see myself smelting... what 55k of gold ores >.<. Isn't there any other ways to level up smithing apart from that? and not lose alot of money & time. ( Make mils of iron knives... I tried to use up 1k of iron bars and I almost died >.< ) I recall reading that I could level up Smithing & crafting at the same time by making mils of Steel helms and painting them... Then maybe high alch them... Is this also worth it? If you're just reading this and have no advice, just post your opinions on getting 99 smithing... Is it really worth it? :D
remoteman
I think that it is more of a status symbol, i ony have 56 smithing myself and hate it&mining. It is arguably one of the most boring skills to get to 99 ever. Dead_Dumb
What do you mean when you say status symbol? I think mining is the worse... I can't stand just standing in the middle on the desert and just mine granite 24/7. Esp with the stupid randoms, Jagex has gone too far with the random events >.<. Anyway back on topic, Smithing isn't that boring... compared to mining & fishing, just repetitive... walking to and fro bank, withdraw bars, hammer hammer hammer... *snore* :D

You mean more like 206k gold ores, and yes, it's more like a status symbol, not really profitable but you know you have of the most wanted 99's IMO. : BK wut

A status symbol is like a phat, it serves no real purpose but people still have them, to show off there wealth. Therefore, 99 smithing would be a status symbol. 99 Ranged F2P achieved 21 November (2961st)

remoteman
exactly my point  so someone would only get 99 smithing to either: look cool, on the way to 99 everything, increase their skill total or for personal gain. nightwolf06
It all depends how much effort you wish to put into your skills. If you wish to be 99 in everything then yes, if you cannot be bothered then why push yourself? Personally I like smithing and mining because i come on here at the same time so I don't get as bored. :
