I keep hearing random things about this, but as to what it is, I'm clueless? What is it all about? Is it a quest or what?

sure. its a kingdom you "own" by beating a certain quest (unsure what)

 

You pay the kingdom money and they will gather a specific item for you for a month! It can be very profitable or just usefull for gathering materials you dont like. I hope my explanation is clear enough and if im wrong about something feel free to correct me.

You get your kingdom by doing the Throne of Miscellania quest and can expand it by doing Royal Trouble (I think) quest.
