Cruiser
Dialup, cable, DSL? What kind of connection do you have? Did this start happening after you installed new software or hardware? We can't help you with anything if we don't know what your setup is like or if you changed something prior to this happening. :?
Apollo
I Think that you must a virus. My old computer did that and I got it scanned and it was a virus was messing up my Internet. Or you need to let your Internet Provider check whats wrong.
hahaha900
I have DSL, and it didnt happen after installing software/hardware. It did happen after changing from a slow connection to a faster one, and im doing a virus scan atm just to be sure.
hahaha900
I did a virus scan but that didnt help, there only whas some adware but nothing major. Ive called my internet provider and they said that it whas possible that my modem couldnt handle the internet speed, and they suggested to buy a new modem. But if its something else i need to know because the modem costs ̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì80,- and thats kinda much for something if it doesnt work :wall:
Nadril
Are you running wireless or wired?
hahaha900
I have a wired connection, also i think there are only 2 solutions. Defect modem or defect Phone line.
zonda
DSL doesn't use phone lines. If your using a phone line, your using dialup... If your on dial up & your being disconnected, it could be a bad telephone line, or someone messing with the phones, I know I use to have a problem when I had 56k using the internet because the line was bad... I had a seperate line installed and I could get uptimes of nearly 2 weeks on a 56k connection (old bnet warring days, dont ask :P ) If your on DSL, it could be your ISP. Either your too far from their nearest server, or they are limiting your speed and/or bandwidth. Try releasing & renewing your IP once you start having troubles and see if that does anything. ... Cruiser
DSL doesn't use phone lines. If your using a phone line, your using dialup... Yes it does use phone lines. :P Depends on what kind of service you have though. (relevant wiki entry) It could be many things. Interference on the line, bad connection to the neighborhood hub, bad hardware. Unfortunately it's one of those hit and miss problems when you try fixing it. :x

hahaha900
After calling to my ISP again #-o they checked my phone line, and it whas ok. They suggested 2 things. Buy a new modem, wich i can try and if it doesnt work i get complete refund. If that doesnt work they send a mechanic and fix it. So problem solved.. i hope. Cruiser
DSL uses fiber optics now-a-days, no? Unless you have somebody like Verizon running fiber to the curb, no. You'll still be using to existing phone/cable lines to get out of the house to the neighborhood hub. After hitting that hub you're probably running on fiber, but most ISPs are too cheap to run it to the curb (Even tho taxes payed for it to be done 10 years ago. :wall: ) Wikipedia strikes again! (FTTP: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiber_to_the_premises#United_States) After calling to my ISP again d'oh! they checked my phone line, and it whas ok. They suggested 2 things. Buy a new modem, wich i can try and if it doesnt work i get complete refund. If that doesnt work they send a mechanic and fix it. So problem solved.. i hope. Hope they figure out what's up with out charging you an arm and a leg. Always sucks when that happens. :?

Most ISP's say that when they have no clue what the problem is.
hahaha900
Whe are getting new internet in 4-6 weeks (way too long) but in the meanwhile whe are going to try a cheap second hand modem, so whe dont have to pay ̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì80,- because with the new internet whe get a free modem so spending much money is useless. Everyone thanks for your help =D>
