Problems connecting to irc chat

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am trying to access the chat on the website, but it won't let me connect because it says I look like a bot :(

Anybody got any advice?

Get mIRC from here (http://www.mirc.com) and follow the instructions on the tip.it chat page to configure it. Don't use your forum name for your nickname and DO NOT fill in your true real name in the "real name" box. Use your forum name or RSN.

The reason the server is calling you a bot is because some people like to use large numbers of proxies with names ending in lots of numbers to flood rooms, which happens to be somewhat like your name, so it's triggering the servers protection. Nothing major to worry about, you just need to use something without the large numbers when you connect. :D

After connecting you will be able to change your name back to your normal ghost+numbers.

If you can't figure something else out post back again. :P
