October 28, 200619 yr Hey everybody, I've got two questions. First one, what's the best way to work with transparencies in Internet Explorer (In an HTML file)? Using a transparent PNG in Firefox is just fine but for me it has a blue tinge when displayed on an IE browser. So what's the best way to do it? Secondly I've got a question regarding education. For the most part I've learned all of my Flash and HTML/CSS knowledge from tutorials and my own experimenting and putting two and two together. I'm wondering if it would be worth the price of paying for Summer classes at my local community college to get an "official" teaching about Flash, Web Design, PHP, and Database programming or should I just continue to work with what I know and continue to read through tutorials? I'm a bright guy and I'm sure I could learn through tutorials but it would take longer than just a single semester. Thanks for the help and advice.
October 28, 200619 yr 1) IE only supports transparency in 8-bit PNG images. It's a huge annoyance but is suppose to be fully supported in IE 7. 2) If you're looking to use HTML/Flash/Databases for some kind of production work (Business or related), taking classes would be a good idea. Picking up a book or 2 on each would also be a lot more helpful than digging through tutorials online. It's cheaper than classes and better than the short stuff you'll find. You could always just save your money and keep up the tutorials you find if it's just a hobby though. :D
October 29, 200619 yr Can't you just use GIF to have transparancy? To be honest, I always thought saving an image as a GIF was the only way to preserve transparancy on a picture. ...
October 29, 200619 yr PNGs are much better because they support more than 256 colors. Nobody really knows this thought because of IE's really crappy transparency support.
October 29, 200619 yr Author Thanks Cruiser, I think I'll get going to the Library sometime soon :D .
