WinZip?

Featured Replies

Ok, I downloaded a demo file of a program and it went to this WinZip thingy. This also happened with the Photoshop CS2 trial. I have no idea what this WinZip thing is, or how to use it. It's got all the files that were downloaded, but they are only viewable in note pad. I want to install the program, what do I do?

Do you have Winrar installed on your system? If not then simply google Winrar and download the free trial from there :)

Winzip is an application to compress and decompress zip archives. This makes their filesize smaller, but they need to be decompressed before they can be opened. Right click on the archive and select decompress, or extract files. Then extract them into a folder and then run the installer.

You don't need Winrar, as far as I know every version of Windows has shipped with an archiving application to handle zip files. If you really want a different program to handle them, I suggest 7zip - Winrar is a free trial, 7zip is actually free software.

Yea, I believe I have Winrar. If I recall it correctly, it made me download it for Photoshop.

just extract the files where ever you wish. FYI, the trial period doesn't actually expire on winzip.
