Is killing unicorns the only way to get unicorn horns? Other than buying from players of course

Yup

No, there are several monsters that drop Ground Unicorn Horn. But the drops are infrequent so the only reliable way to gather them is by killing Unicorns.

Another question, what's the fastest way to get them? (Where more unicorns are)

I've looked all over and I couldn't ever find more then 2 in one place. Best place I found was a west from Catherby since it was nice and close to a bank. A lot of other people had the same idea so I had to deal with that. I also found that it's best to use some sort of range or mage attack. I say this since I often had to deal with other players going for them to, and by using range/mage I didn't have to get right up to the unicorn which helped a bit. Do be aware that this is just what I found, I may be wrong. (it's happend before)

North of the chaos altar in the wildy there are black unicorns. It is multi-combat, so watch out for pkers, but you do not need to take your best armour to fight a unicorn do you? ;) So it's all good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, at Entrana there are 3 or 4 unicorns. It's far from any bank, so you'd have to either Glory to Draynor, or use the new nifty hot air balloon network.
