Kinslayer777
I don't know the conversion, or how prices are in Aussie Land, but generally accepted for the US is newegg on prices... If AUD is anything close to the dollar it seems high though. 260 for the GS? Edit: Nvm at newegg it's 206 dollars, so that doesn't seem bad. I was under the impession though it was quite wrose then the ATI X1900XT 256mb which happens also to be around 210 dollars.

JoeDaStudd
First of which sight did you get this from? It looks, that works out about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã800, but for that amount you can get a Core 2 Duo, but if you prefer AMD then i looks like a pretty good deal [hide=Drops]Dragon Axe x11Berserker Ring x9Warrior Ring x8SeercullDragon MedDragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kcGodsword Shard (bandos)Granite Maul x 3Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats][/hide]
Kinslayer777
Thankyou for us prices :-) A quick search on newegg gives me these prices. Granted, you aren't getting tech support, a system warrenty (but they have very good warrenty) *and newegg wouln't be an option they're US only so you'd need a comparable AUD site* (Shipping not included) AM2 4200 -182 250G HDD -79 19" Proview FV929w wide screen -399 (is that wrong? That sounds like a horrible price...it's only 19 inch. A benq has 2ms and is 189 Linky Floppy drive - 5.99 Asus 16X DVD writer - 27 1200W 2.1 Channel spekaer - No where near detail..>Sorry...Brand please? Model please? GB KB + MS - Eh? XP Home -89 (Vista coupon twoo ^_^) 256M 7900GS 159 after 20 dollar rebate 2G DDR2 Ram - 205 (what the bloody hell! Mine cost me 254 after rebate and was only bought on Oct.4!!! Thermaltake 600W Power Supply 129 (I can't remember where, but i heard thermaltake have terrible PSUs. I'd recommend my lovely Seasonic S12. Mine was 115 in 500w. I'm not sure if they have a 600w, you can go check, but In anycase i think 500w would easily cover your system)
Kinslayer777
Edit Ok, seasonic S12: 430W = 95 500W = 120 (Wha? Went up lol- I guess that shows their demand is high, proof lol :) 550W 'energy plus' (no idea what that means :/) = 130 650W =

Kinslayer777
To be honest I don't like your card. Try looking at benchmarks at tomshardware.com (It's not working atm for me :s) but I'm next to positibe an ATI card would be much better for your price. Especially if you can get the Ati X1900XT 256mb
fitzztif
Hmm i think i might just go with the GF 7900 GT.. It seems like a good enough card.
Kinslayer777
Tis your money, and granted i havnt looked over the motherboard if it supports ATI (you can check that if you're interested :P) but ATI is better in this range meh. [i'd say all ranges but then nvidia gAnStAs gunna shoot me)
Diminished2b
Tis your money, and granted i havnt looked over the motherboard if it supports ATI (you can check that if you're interested :P) but ATI is better in this range meh. [i'd say all ranges but then nvidia gAnStAs gunna shoot me) Judging by the "If your motherboard supports ATI" comments, you can be safely ignored. *Shot by nVidia gAnStAs* Anyways, the 7900GT is a great card. Alternatively, if you've got DirectX 10 hardware support in mind, the 8000 series has it. They should be releasing the low-cost 8000 series cards very soon. Kinslayer777
I don't see why that makes me someone to be ignored. I can't be neccesarily sure if all motherboards support ATI. afterall. Not all do. Or, at the very least, they don't all support Crossfire. I didnt look down the lane too deeply for motherboards because i found the perfect one for me quite quickly. Nicely, it supported ATI and Nvidia, although only SLI not crossfire :(. I wasn't useing crossfire anyhow.
JoeDaStudd
I thought if the motherboard had a PCI-Express slot, then it could support Ati or nVidia PCI-Express Graphics Card. Ok if its crossfire then only Ati and if it SLi then only nVidia Am i missing something here? So would a ASUS M2N-E support a X1950Pro or only a 7900GS? O and the Pc your looking into seems pretty good for the cash. zonda
GJ kin you confused him... because your wrong. Joe you were right in the begining, if you have a PCI-E Slot, and the card is PCI-E, it wont matter the brand name... the only thing you have to be sure of is if the card is AGP, PCI, or PCI-E, and that the power supply will support the card. ... fitzztif
Ok now im confused :P .. will that gfx card work?
JoeDaStudd
Thanks zonda, I did think what the hell when he said about "if your motherboard supports ATI". So thanks for clearing that up Yes the graphics card will work, as the motherboard has PCI-E [hide=Drops]Dragon Axe x11Berserker Ring x9Warrior Ring x8SeercullDragon MedDragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kcGodsword Shard (bandos)Granite Maul x 3Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats][/hide]
Stuart_G
The only thing you have to worry about motherboards supporting different cards is if you intend to run dual cards. But you're not doing that, so forget i said anything :P I have one question for you though, would you be comfortable building your own system from scratch?
Kinslayer777
I'm not quite wrong [Afterall I never said it didnt...Ok- I'm sort of wrong- in a way), I was under the impression too thats how it works. I had never checked however so just in case thought you might want to check. Sorry for making it more confusing :( As for the SLI crossfire a mobo can have SLI support and still run ATI. Mine does.
Stuart_G
It wont be able to run a crossfire or SLi set up, you need special chipsets for that, but you will be able to run single cards on them however, but as i said, its not what the OP was after, so we shouldnt go much further into it. Kinslayer777
Don't let the seemingly daunting task get to you :) I had no idea, and am still somewhat clueless overall. However, by researching and reading a view guides i managed to put together my comp :-) Easy peasy! Honestly i was shocked how easy it was while i did it systematically. There are a few precautions though you'll need to read about. And there is a little work reading your mobo manual beforehand. In the end it's definetly worth it and was really happy so many people hounded at me to build not buy. However, i don't know if aussies have any individual parts sellers. In US it's *DEFINETLY* worth it, but i wouldn't know how easy it is to get the parts in Roo'land [i can't say say Aus**** because I'm jealous you live there. Really want to go there] :-)
Stuart_G
Add to that an Antec TruePower II-550 Watt PSU, which will take the total price up to $2334.50 and you've got something that will pretty much equal the computer listed in the original post. It has the same 12 month warranty as the other site aswell. Personally, i would go with the set up i listed as its a Core 2 Duo rig and i feel the parts i listed would be better than their system. Granted it is a tad more expensive, your getting good parts which will last you a while.
