Why does tip.it tend to emulate rsc and force its users away

Well i have noticed several things whilist browsing through both runescape related forums. During this period i could evidentially prove that tip.it had less users at both peak and non peark periods. I need to ask those 'higher' people in the community why we lack new 'ideas' like rsc has. A common example is our achrive of wisdom which is a direct copy of their guides section where our Player-Made Guides is a copy of their draft camp. Our 'new' clan section is copy of their clan section just renamed with inapporialty pointless names, eg. pk in runs = The Battlefield Book. Another point is the banning of megaupload where the 'few' pk fans of the community are forced to go else where to get vids? This is basicly pointless for banning such a popular form of downloading videos due to key loggers. Why not post a warning that tip.it is not responsible and that these videos run the risk of downloading spyware? People wonder why nearly half of these forums are dead, well the answer is self explaintory isnt it?

MegaUpload is now uncensored:

Well obviously users would compare RSC with Tip.It's Clan section. It was inevitable. We did not take any inspiration from RSC however. This is all users' (And Staff members') ideas.

The Clan Marketplace - which is a work in progress - I believe is different from RSC? And the CTET too? At least let us get into the swing of things first with the CTET before you condemn us.

Offline and unavailable.

it is pointless making a clan marketplace since you get no one looking in the clan related forums. Another dead forum pl0x? I insist that you should use your efforts to increase the activity there rather than make another pointless forum?

As it turns out, the Archive of Wisdom and Player-Made Guides were suggestions made by Tip.It users. Having a Clan section is simply an essential component. That's not to say that our users don't make suggestions based on other sites, but that was not the inspiration for these changes.

Aside from that, competitive analysis is an essential part of making any site successful. If YOU are comparing Tip.It with other sites, it's only natural for us to make note of what other sites have that we don't. Does that mean we copy them? Heck no. Does that mean we try to provide something bigger and better? Absolutely.

We'd be foolish not to check out the competition to ensure that we remain the best RuneScape FanSite available.

The only idea you have gave to improve that section was to make you Mod of it. I see that you tried to post more often in CD which I thank you for. But pointing out our flaws with no solution only gives us a headache.

Using the "whos online" section of any forum is not an accurate gauge of traffic , remember also that we are running the oldest and largest fansite , and I can guarantee that other fansites do not generate as much traffic to their site.

The Archive of Wisdom was an idea started by a community member over a year ago, just because it wasnt its own forum , does not mean its a "new" idea , we had it stickied for quite a long time. Player made guides was the result of tons of users thinking they could post some random junk and called it "Wisdom". Call it a followup to AoW if you will.

All user suggestions , we listen and respond to what our users want.

If you had even a vague clue as to how many problem users and posts we have to deal with on a day to day basis posting bad links , you would understand why these temporary changes are often implemented. It doesnt matter how many warnings we give , how many tutorials we write, users are ALWAYS going to blame their own misfortunes on the site where they clicked the link. Again , if you had any idea how many reports we get daily, you might understand this a bit better.

And as for the "Stealing ideas" , thats just plain ludicrous , Tip.It had the first fansite AND forum for Runescape, does that mean that all other sites stole our idea? Not really.

How about our annual slave auction ? Did we cry when RSC held theirs in the past few weeks? I sure didn't , I wish them luck and hope their party is a success.

Do you also run around to the other fansites posting accusations as to why they have similar features and functions as we have always had?

Why you insist on turning it into a huge competition between us, I'll never know . I certainly don't perceive them as "the enemy". I've even worked with a few of the admins over there to resolve issues that affected both sites.
