November 23, 200619 yr I have a quick question, what do you do or have done to help someone cope with loosing a loved one? (gramma) My friend just lost her gramma today (thanksgiving) from a heart attack. She called me at 8am telling me what happened. I wanted to say something but I didn't know what to say. I'm going to go with her to see the rest of her family today and I wanted to be able to do something to make her happy. So what have you done or would do in my situation?
November 23, 200619 yr I'm not good with consoling people. Although for the most part, just turning up and being there helps.
November 23, 200619 yr You could have asked if she wanted you to come over. Like rick said, just being with them helps. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!

November 23, 200619 yr So what have you done or would do in my situation? I've could have done the similar thing. You can meet the family members to console your friend. There's nothing wrong in helping in general case. If there's some complicated matter between you and the family already, then it might not be suggested to do so. -=Aznhuskarl=- Cleric-=20Cent=- JuggernaughtMore to come...
November 23, 200619 yr Just be there and listen if she has anything to say. It can make a world of difference.
November 23, 200619 yr Listen, and show your interest, try to cheer her up, but don't make jokes or anything like that. At least, I think that.
November 23, 200619 yr be compassionate. dont make jokes, and use comforting words. let them all know you care deeply and revere this sad time. comfort your friend. give them a shoulder to cry on.
