I have a quick question, what do you do or have done to help someone cope with loosing a loved one? (gramma)

My friend just lost her gramma today (thanksgiving) from a heart attack. She called me at 8am telling me what happened. I wanted to say something but I didn't know what to say. I'm going to go with her to see the rest of her family today and I wanted to be able to do something to make her happy.

So what have you done or would do in my situation?

You could have asked if she wanted you to come over. Like rick said, just being with them helps.
Yea, supose so. If she asks you to leave / stay whatever, just agree with it. Even if it's against your better judgement - respect it.

I've could have done the similar thing. You can meet the family members to console your friend. There's nothing wrong in helping in general case.

If there's some complicated matter between you and the family already, then it might not be suggested to do so.
