November 30, 200619 yr Trying to play Black & White2, but it shows that it cannot create a 3D device. I searched its diagnostics and it came up with this My graphics card is: Intel ® 82845G Graphics Controller Version 6.14.10.4243. I try to run the game and I get: Fatal Error: Cannot create 3D Device. Here is what dxdiag is pulling up. The game requires 64MB of RAM (display, not memory), and my computer's internal device has 0. I realize it is internal, but is there anything I can do to get this 64MB of RAM onto my computer? Someone please help. do u wow?Cassiius|Level 70 Night Elf Preist|RunetotemSambora|Level 37 Tauren Shaman|BurningLegion
November 30, 200619 yr Even though you have on board graphics, you can still upgrade with an external video card with a PCIe slot (or AGP for older computers and even regular PCI if you want to go really cheap). Your computer will just use the new card instead of the on board chip and RAM. As for DXDiag not reporting your video memory, that is most likely because it's just on board memory. There's no dedicated video memory to report so it "N/A"s it. The image shows "No problems found" so I'm assuming your drivers are fine, especially if you've had no other issues.
November 30, 200619 yr Author The problem comes to play when I try to open my game, White & Black2. It states that it failed to create a 3D device, and I have reason to believe it is because my on-board/internal video drive has zippo memory to it (shown in picture 1). I'll have to open my CPU later and check, but I don't think my HP has anywhere you could possibly put in a new video drive. HP=CRAP. do u wow?Cassiius|Level 70 Night Elf Preist|RunetotemSambora|Level 37 Tauren Shaman|BurningLegion
November 30, 200619 yr The status windows showing 0 memory isn't the problem. If it had 0 memory you wouldn't have an image on the screen to reply with. :P Most on board chip sets don't have the capacity to render new 3d games no matter how much RAM you give it. That's just the nature of on board graphics unfortunately. If you do have an open slot inside your computer I'd definitely suggest spending some money on a decent video card. You can pick up cards that will play most new games on at least medium for ~$100 if you look around.
November 30, 200619 yr Author Thanks for the help, you can't imagine how relieved I am to hear I can do something about this. :D do u wow?Cassiius|Level 70 Night Elf Preist|RunetotemSambora|Level 37 Tauren Shaman|BurningLegion
