maximu160490
HI, After reading the forums do 'NOOBS - New players get a fair deal' it made me think. when people started, got straight off the boad from tutorial island did they know what to do? I'm sure not. I was lucky and learnt it from a friend, and also witha new frind of mine. We never were noobs. i havve never begged off anyone or will  but what about people who never had this? I have played other roleplaying games online and they had a system where new players could be assigned a more experinced player to help them. this would enable them to learn more quickly what to do, how to get money and gnerally not be noobs and beg, scam steal off other players. I usggest that on the frined window, you should allow yourself to sign up to a mentoring scheme for new players. Yes there is already many tutors in lumby, but would it have made peopel feel better if they had soeone that could help them, show them around and encourage them. I'm sure that this would stop soem popel from beggiing fromothers, instead of calling them noobs, perhapes a scheme liek this to give help to new players. Peopel could do as much as they liked or as littel, but to give a new person help would then make them play more ( and even more likely to become members Jagex :-w ) A little constructive replys or suggestions would be nice. remember - we were all newbies once :P
Bufoman
I think its a good idea, but what would be the incentive for the mentor? would he get somthing like a rep point for each newbi he helped out? I help the new guys out some times but most people probaly wouldent unless there was some form of reward for them. maximu160490
good point, i hadn't thought of what the mentors got out of it. i suppose some people would help becassue they are helping people who are new and as such will not spam, beg, be annoying etc. However any ideas on how to make incentives for the mentors. You could perhaps have useful itmes for each newbie helped? kind of like chomby huntng? any other suggestiosn are good. Bufam i was goin on what you said about rep points. Bufoman
well im not entirely sure who bufam is... but heres some ideas. with a rep system in place each point could count towards protection from bans/ mutes for certain offences that where not delibrate... like saying something that you dident relise was offensive or advertiseing. anouther idea would be that the points go twoards a score that you could see somewheres maby in the players high score. so groups like the OOC who like nice and helpfull players are more likely too accept you with a high helping score... these are just some simple suggestions. gyroman25
theres still going to be something wrong with this though what if the mentor is a mean guy or a guy who scams? the mean guy might tell the newb ok go kill this and the noob gets killed what if the guy who scams tells the newb to scam people N0valyfe an idol to some, a great player to many, and a true runescaper to all
maximu160490
i can see the point of wha ti peopele are scammer etc. but surely common sense, even if you were new, would be applied. if you ddint trust someone, would you listen to them? Surely people would do this becasue they want to help. if people like scammers do this, then wha twill they get out of it? Its only a thought
25leaf
Sounds cool ecspecialy for people who play the game to hang out with friends and help them. I would do it every now and then. I small reward would be nice too.
SoulsDeath
i dont think there should be a reward, then most people will only help out newbs for rewards if you really want to get the players who actually want to help then there doesnt need to be a reward Perhaps they should call those skills Robbery, Lumberjack, Arsonist, ect... Jock66600
New skill, Tolerence for Noobs. Best to leave them to rot if they annoy you. But there are soon who do it anyways to be nice. Not me, short tempter. But good luck with that, hope they don't force people to stay in a room with the noob for about 5 mins as a random. :ohnoes:
maximu160490
really pleased with the feedback. i thought about not having a reward, afterall runescape is for making frineds and helping people. I dont think you need a reward to help people. the 'reward' is not having noobs and scammers that dont know who to play the game
