Also, for your idea so far. I don't know how unique it is because you haven't given us much info but if you have a similar game in mind, still try and stray away from it as far as possible. If you want to catch animals like pokemon, then have the setting completely different from pokemon. Have it be medieval where yo uhave to cage the animals and such. Originality is what makes a good game.
