How U Reformat Windows Xp?

okay..i got a labtop that needs reformating.. can any1 give me a full guide on how u do it? tyvm

1. Make backups of your important files on a CD, a 4.7gb one (or multiple copies) will do.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Insert the Windows installation CD, then reboot the computer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. It will ask if you want to boot from CD, press any key to start.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Upon trying to re-install, it will say you already have a copy of Windows. When it asks do you want to format, format in the NTFS file system, not the outdated FAT32.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. After the format, install Windows which takes about 40 minutes or less.

Admittedly pedantic, but it's DVDs that are 4.7GB :P

If it doesn't ask if you want to boot from CD you'll need to look in your BIOS setup, by pressing either delete or F2 during the start of the boot sequence. You then need to make sure that the CD drive comes before HDD 0 in the boot priority.

Oh, And one last thing, Make sure you keep your windows install disk safe, as if you dont you have to buy a new one likw i am doing right now... :cry:
