Game installation problem

OK im trying to install a copy of Rome: Total War Gold (DVD ed), and i get this message everytime..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ive used the disc countless times for installations as i mod and play different mods regularly yet this is the first time its happened, if its a hardware ie disc problem il just buy another one, but any help would be appreciated :)

The only thing I can really think of is that your Disc may be dirty or scratched. Have you tried cleaning it?

The DVD you are trying to backup may be dirty, physically damaged (scratches) or badly authored. These are the most common reason that you get this error code - the DVD can't be read by your DVD reader/burner.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You aren't backing up, but I'm guessing those reasons apply here. Take the game back to where you bought it and tell them you weren't able to install it due to this error and hopefully they'll swap it.

yeh i cleaned it properly, disk is fine..:( looks like il just go buy another copy lol..its my favourite game and i play it daily.. boredom lol.

It's a CRC error, and from what I gather this means it can't access the data, probably due to disk damage. Story short, your disk is buggered.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm pretty sure if you send the disk back to the company and ask for a new one they'll send it you for free, there should be something in the instructions telling you where to send it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alternatively, if you've got a DVD burner, try copying the disk and installing from the copied disk. Don't worry, it's legal.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2nd Alternative, borrow the installation off a friend (just to install) then use your own CD Key or whatever, as usual...
