Ok I have just killed the Devourer and spoken to the priest who tells me to speak to him in the temple for my reward, so I go to see him about my reward in the themple and he tells me that I should be down helping him in the pyramid. Am I missing something or am I just stuck in an endless loop?

that never happened to me, after killing the devourer it gave me the reward (the spinx)

Looking through the rs forums and it appears everyone who is trying to do the quest now can't complete it as they can't collect their rewards. So we are just going to have to wait until JagEx fix it.
