Wolf Avvy WIP

Well I was looking for tutorials to pixel animals and I found a nice one with a wolf so I decided to make an avvy.

As you can see it isn't finished as I am having some issues with shading the wolf, but anyway if you could help me by telling me what to improve on, and possibly how to shade an animal successfully.

its a lot better than most wolves ive seen pixelled, but as with all pixels (even those done by real pro's) there are a few faults. at the moment, it loks like youve pillowshaded the wolfs head (ie, the animal looks smooth and shiny, like plastic, with positions youve put the highlights and shadows) the wolf lacks texture, dosnt look like it has fur.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

the ears are too large, and from teh way you have the dark lines around them makes the ears look as though theyre not joined to the head. and id try to fix the eyes up, unless your going for that cartoony look :wink:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

if you like, copy and paste my avvy into ms paint or whatever program your using and zoom in, youll see how i textured teh wolf. (i pixelled it myself a while ago) it may help you with adding the texture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

edit; also, just a question. im not accusing you of anything, im just asking. did you make those stars yourself? i only ask because theyre exactly the same size and shape and identical colour of the ones i made for a christmas avvy a lil while ago, and ive never seen someone do stars the same way as me before. as i said before, im certainly not accusing you of copying them, im just curious :wink:

Thanks, I will try that out when I get home. Yea I borrowed the starts just for the back ground but I am going to change it later, it just looked really boring on a dark background with nothing there as I wasn't sure what to put in there. Don't worry they will be gone, and I apologize if that annoyed you.

 

 

 

The light highlights are just there so I know where the light will be hitting the wolf.

first of all, sorry for the late reply. i got home yesterday and was really tired, so pretty much just slept lol.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

with the stars, i wasnt that worried, and im annoyed at all with you for using them, honestly. i was just curious if someone had decided to use the same 'style/type' of star as me. once again sorry if it sounded as though i was annoyed/accusing you, it was just for my own curiousity. \
