Speeding up my internet connection

My internet isn't by any means slow, but it seems like it should be faster. I'm connected using a DSL modem, but I was wondering if anyone had a website, or any tips for speeding up my web browsing....I use firefox.

Might be your router. I know my router is [cabbage], but My dad wont let me change it because it gives fast wireless but thats it. connect your computer directly to the modem to see if it runs faster and if it does then shoot your router.

My cable internet once went really slow because of a bad cable, took me a few months to figure out because I would think it would not work at all or work fine.

 

 

 

Also could be router but Vashinred already mentioned it.

 

 

 

Maybe if you live with your parents they just told you that you had dsl because they thought you wouldn't know the difference.

I am far more advanced with my computer then my parents are, and yes, I know we have DSL..(pretty sure if it was dial-up, i'd know)...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It might be the router, but I run my xbox 360 through it, and it seems to run fine, although the games do act up...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I know their is different things you can enable and disable to make your internet have less hassle, ussually leading to faster connection, and I know their are tutorials...but i was wondering if any Tech-heads had any quick advice.
