holyheadharpies
:D hi this idea occourd to me when it was my freinds birthday and he wanted something from runescape well i thought ill give him the rune chain i had spare *he was a lvl 50 by the way so it seemd a good prezzie fro him* and i thought wouldnt it be good if i could put some wrapping paper around it for when i traded it to him so there would be an extra dose of tension, so what do you think of the idea? after all runescape was meant a social game, holyheadharpies ps: you should be able to craft it and buy it from the general store so noobs would be able to buy it aswell,
Ice_72
That would seem quite cool actually. Reminds me much of crackers.
buggienuk
hmm, good idea but this could be used for scamming -> wrap up an useless item, say its rune plate in a wrapper, sell for 60k. now you say, lets just keep the appearence, but not the colour -> bronze plate, same story now lets say you have the name with it, yes, well, thats kinda useless because you still know what it is then like the idea, but hard to get it right

Bubsa
I can't say it would be the most eagerly anticipated update.. I don't see how it could hurt. You're best off waiting a bit and then suggesting it in time for christmas. I feel it's got more chance of succeeding then. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. Besides, its a gift, you don't have to pay anything, unless you got a friend that says: "take this gift, but give me 100k" PS: Its a good idea, useful. ShadowSam19
People would still try and scam with it. wrap a raw chicken then say its rune, noobs would trick newbs with it all the time. The best way to do it would be to take it to some npc, and have them wrap it for a price. I think maybe a way to stop the scamming would be to make it only tradeable to the person whose name you write on the "card" when you wrap it, so scammers wouldnt be able to scam as easily, though they could still get guillable people. kaibani
ya, like it could also be used as a really cool feature like you could send people who are annoying bombs in a package and when they open it they die and lose all their stuff and like ya it's funny and like ya lol. JK. All in all, i'd say it's a good idea. It'd be even better if they had them for special occasions like christmas or a friend's birthday, so it would throw out confetti and play a chistmas carol or birthday song. I've always given my best friend a rune armor or weapon on his birthdays and christmas lol cuz he always loses a part of his rune once in a while... Sup noobs. Ishbar
Its a rather clever little idea. Rather than goto an NPC for an nominal Fee, the item can only be "Given" like how you do the Party crackers, it says they want to break it with you. Well just have a small thing say "So and so wants to give you a gift" And you can accept, or decline. That would prevent all forms of scamming in that case. :)

holyheadharpies
hey i just thought if you trade a wrapped item the other player (the one thats on the reciving end of a gift) cant offer any thing in return :D so that you can only trade a gift for absolutely nothing

xyrec
How sad is it when the runescape communicity is so filled with scammers that when anyone suggests an idea everyone immediately starts thinking of how it could be used in scams. On topic though I think it's a good idea. I would be a neat little way to give someone a surprise present and not a difficult thing for jagex to add, you should suggest it, like someone said, around christmas time. Having to pay to get it wrapped and only being able to give it to the person it's addressed too on the little card is an excellent idea. That would all but eliminate any scamming with this idea and anyone who still manages to get scammed with such a system is dumb and deserves to be scammed. The only thing I can think of to suggest is that when the package is traded it should have a small popup like the wildy warning that says something along the lines of "There is no way to tell what is in a wrapped package and so you should never pay anyone for such an item. If they want to sell you something, make them unwrap it and sell the item itself."
Shadd
I like the idea, only a fool would pay for a gift he/she doesn't want. :| Just think about a real-life scenario, a stranger comes up to you " here, buy this gift for 50 bucks". What would person with common sense do? Ask what's in it of course! A smart person w/ good common sense would think the obvious. Btw, topic starter, if this idea ever happens I want a free present giftwrapped. :D Blue is my favorite color. No wait! Red is too.
buggienuk
I like the idea, only a fool would pay for a gift he/she doesn't want. :| yes, he would be a fool, however there are also people falling for the "I R teh [bleep]ex staff!", with names like "jag modarat" and then the people who fall for "jagex blocks your password!! look!! *********" and ofcourse "turn your pass into "gold" and you will get 10mil geepees!!" and the o so funny "drop your items on the ground and press alt f4" the idea behind the suggestion is cool, however safing the f2p-ers with peanuts as brains... thats a problem. dont get me wrong, i really like it, but it just wont happen
