December 9, 200817 yr Ok, right now I am really annoyed by my younger sister and her ranting so I will ask Tip.it for help. When we moved we discovered that they won't do ADSL out here, only dial-up (no way) and wireless, so mum got a wireless modem, and so far the only issue is that we all want to use it, at once, all the time. So being the only tech savvy person in the house I was asked to get it to work on all computers through our network. Both me and my friend have been able to do absolutely nothing with it, and so I need someone who may be more knowledgeable in this sort of thing to help. We have a D-Link DI-524 Router, with everyone connecting via wifi. I am using Vista with SP1 while the others are using XP with SP2. I have tried going into the settings and allowing the USB modem to share it's internet, but it doesn't cross over to the router (they both appear as seperate networks.) If you need any more info just ask. A speey answer will be greatly appreciated, I hear the cricket bat calling... Steam | PM me for BBM PIN Nine naked men is a technological achievement. December 9, 200817 yr Ok I've only tried this with 2 hard-wired connections but the theory is the same. Open up the network connections page. Select the the 2 networks (click one then hold the ctrl button and click the other). Now right click the one of the networks (which you have selected) and click "Bridge". Once its done you should be done. Note this is based on one network being the usb devices network and the other being the network connection to the router. December 10, 200817 yr There are a few routers that can run a 3G modem dongle - that would be the ideal solution
December 11, 200817 yr you say you have vista sp1. This is just a theory, and I am inexperienced if it would work, but if the computer has the proper wireless networking card, you could set up a ad-hoc network(computer-to-computer). To do this, go into the network and sharing center, select set up a network on the left hand side, and select set up ad-hoc network. The only way this works is if you connect the computer to the internet via the LAN port and then broadcast your network via your networking card.
