  1. it doesnt't, and the xeon box also has a pci-e slot... also the processors are just about priced the same.
  2. my dad is a manager for a company that is about to drop like 3500$ on a rig from dell that uses a 3.73ghz Xeon proc, 2x 1gb 677mhz ddr2 ram, a 200gb sata2 drive.. and that just about it.. so, i went over to ibuypower.com, and put together a new AM2-socket rig for 2600$. it had a fx-62 :D , 2gb of the ddr2 800mhz corsair ram, a 150 GB 10k rpm raptor drive, a sweet asus mobo, and some random video pci-e card (the computer isnt doing anything graphic-intensive, just VERY cpu-intensive, the old computer takes 2-3 days to finish it), a nzxt lexa case and should come with water cooling for the cpu (which would be useful), and oh yes, a 17 inch lcd monitor (dell's computer did not come with a monitor) the rig from ibuypower shows that dell over-charges almost as much as alienware! lol. not really, the money is for if the computer breaks, and everyone is too dumb to figure it out, but that is still a LOT of money, and ibuypower does have a 3-year warranty... so, im almost sure, would an amd fx-62 beat a 3.73 Xeon? AMD's chip uses 90nm process type, 2.8ghz, l1 cache= 128kb +128kb, l2 = 2 x 1mb the Xeon uses 65nm process type, 3.73 ghz(duh), and a l2 cache of 2 x 2mb. of corse, i couldn't find benchmarks comparing the two.
  3. for a website you need 1. a host - http://www.godaddy.com... not sure about it since your in the uk, a quick google search will find you a huge amount of them. if you want to go for a free host (eek!) expect slow load times, more ads, and lots of trouble! yahoo.com geocities and tripod.com are popular free hosts. 2. a domain, unless you want your website to be something like http://www.yoursite.yourhost.com, or dont care. http://www.dot[LikelyScam] offers free ones, but expect adverts on your site. im pretty sure yahoo.com has domains for sale, so check them out. 3. html knowledge, which hopefully you already have! :D html is actually pretty simple, and you dont need an expensive program to make the documents, good ol' microsoft notepad should suit you well for first-time site, unless you want to drop a good 200 pounds on macromedia dreamweaver. ive found that http://www.w3schools.com/ is a good source for leaning html good luck :D
  4. for me, dell is a no-no, my grandpa recently got one and it didn't even come with a cd to re-install windows! if you need a pc that runs games(from looking at your old pc's specs) go for: http://www.ibuypower.com http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ you can find some pretty good deals on those sites, dell/hp/compaq/exc. dont bother if you want to play a game other than RS, unless you have like 2k$ for their "gaming" line if you decide u want to just buy the parts hit up newegg.com
