  1. Can someone make a resource gain calculator?

So then I can see if its usefull to use FOTS or not as its only a 10% boost.

As from what I understand, the mathematical function for everything in ports:

    ⌊⌊⌊⌊⌊⌊⌊([base] * Totem 1⌋ * Totem 2⌋ * Totem 3⌋ * Totem 4⌋ * Merchant⌋ * Fortune of the Sea⌋ * Warehouse

    Where (if active, 1 otherwise):

    - Totems are 1.01 for trade goods if Jade Statue, 1.01 for resources if Cherrywood tree

    - Merchant is either 1.1, 1.2, 1.25 or 1.3 depending on tier of your merchant

    - FotS is 1.1

    - Warehouse is between 1.01-1.1 for chimes and either 1.05 to 1.1 for your resources, depending on tier

Might have the Merchant and FotS switched, would really like to research that but low on FotS personally.

  2. ^ That argument can be turned around just as easily. Making pop equipement heavily outclassed by nex gear renders the whole effort a bit... pointless. I don't need the armour to be better than nex's, but I'd like to get *some* use out of it.

Don't get me wrong, I love POP, but I'm not seeing much use in continuing it, aside from the fun part. Not too long from now, when I have all the stories done, all the upgrades and buildings, there will be very little left to draw me to my port. This wasn't a small update to the game: it was highly anticipated, it was well developped, it was one of the few that was received very positively by a player base that usually finds fault in everything... but it'll be dead as can be within months after its release.

Until everyone who can obtain pop armor can also obtain nex gear, pop armor isn't useless. Money doesn't grow on trees, y'know, and thus pop armor is a very acceptable replacement for nex gear for where you need the defense- it also has MORE defense and more LP. You also need to consider the fact that the first set of pop gear is hardest to obtain- after that, it's basically no effort at all for a replacement. Not only does nex gear cost alot, it also doesn't allow you to use that money anywhere else that would be productive, and the set prices always have a general downtrend, so realistically, you are bleeding loads of money with those(and god forbid should you lose it...). Pop is a one time effort, basically, and is VERY close in terms of usefulness- ~3% DPS vs some defense. I also think some people are forgetting that pop will be a decent moneymaker for quite some time.

    Moneymaker how?

As you said yourself, there's no desire for a set that's worse than Nex. It isn't "necessary" anywhere.

The only way people would use it in combat situations is if it costs about as much as Nex gear to maintain, which means the entire set should cost between 2-10M. I'm sorry, but no one high level (which, as most of us probably forgot, is a requirement to even enjoy this content) is gonna invest oodles of time for something worth so little.

Spices aren't even worth 4k each at the moment and scrimshaws barely sell for 2M.

  3. none of those will give plates by themselves, you will have to rely on rare trade good missions granted in the normal missions area

getting the convict to the end of his chain will grant 25 plates, and the convict/missionary/biologist joint story mission grants 50

the rest is whaler solo or whaler/biologist joint which isn't story based but maxed out rewards 5/10 plates

Actually, both the Missionary and the Convict give 25 plates at the end of their storyline.

It's the only trade good that is awarded twice.

FYI, Whaler: 100 Spices, Occultist: 25 Chi, Assassin: 25 Lacquer, Biologist: 25 Ancient bones

  4. I'm surprised how easy it is to get 90-95%+ on all 4 ships in the Bowl region. I thought I would struggle after getting the 4th ship, but turns it's far from it.

Still need like 8% to the Pincers. :<

    Yeah, about that.

Say goodbye to those days when you hit the Pincers.

I haven't sent out a 90%+ Pincer mission in weeks. Literally.

  5. Are they giving more than 50 resource per final mission? I'm really excited for full tetsu and sea singer when I get materials.

I'm still waiting on a death lotus remake into something much more graceful and flowing. I think the ninja theme was a good start, but blahhh...

If you use Jade Merchants and Fortune of the Sea on every final mission, you can get up to 141 Plate, 106 Lacquer, 106 Chi, 106 Ancient bones and 143-149 Spices (Spices depending on amount of Jade Statue totems)

Not including partial success failed missions, of course.

  6. So just got back the whaler pincers mission. Base is 100 spice, I put a merchant on that makes 130. I have 4 jade statues and got 135 spice. How much does that make each one worth? Lol

((((Base x Jade Totem) x Jade totem) x Jade totem) x Jade Totem) x Jade Merchant

    Or basically, 104 * 1.3 = 135.2, rounded down to 135.

Hope the totems were worth it for ya!

Seeing it written out like that made me realize it doesn't matter the order.

    1*2*3*4*5 = 120

    5*4*3*2*1 = 120

Edited my post before you posted that.

But yeah, it rounds down after every multiplication before applying the next.

So, literally, the only use those statues have is for that one single 100 spice mission because 1% rounded down only creates a new value for >=100 good missions.

It's awful design, and I have to wonder what Jagex was smoking when they thought it out.

Each totem is 1% bonus, each step is multiplied and rounded down, that comes to 104

    104 * 1.3 = 135.2, rounded down to 135.

Hope the totems were worth it for ya!

PS: Still thanks for the research, sincerely. At least we now know totems are applied before merchants.

  8. You need the steel shipwright/lodgings upgrade for max port score so might as well go for those imo. Mod Edam has taken note of the idea that seafaring deserves a compensation for not having shipwright/hull at the highest tier and no bow items whatsoever. Whether that means we're going to get something... maybe.

    Do you?

Constructed does not include shipwright and lodgings upgrade.

Feel free to correct me if I made a mistake.

  9. Maybe I'm wrong about this (since I have no expertise in IT) but I'll post it anyway:

Why do people assume Jagex just has "RS06" lying around on some floppy disk inside their top slide? I mean, the decision to keep RSC was made at the time of the migration, thus they had servers with all the code and works already, it was just a matter of maintaining it. From what I understand, Runescape '06 doesn't. Every part of it has been systematically upgraded and I would be extremely surprised that they could just revert a server back to it with a click of a button. That doesn't mean they won't still have all the assets, but I'd assume they'd have to rebuild it fully, which would mean dev-time taken from actual new content to please a few dedicated people, of which I am almost certain over half would leave within a week since it means people can't train stats like they could in the actual year of 2006 (since everyone starts off lvl 1, that means no stack of food, ores, logs, runes etc to depend upon) and that the things that systematically plague the current RS will exist in the '06 server just as well (botting, gambling and [wagon], elitist behaviour).

    My 2 cents.

  10. I can't wait to HEAR the new NPC's though (assuming they are voiced, but Jagex said they'd voice all new quests).

I mean, thus far we've only heard Humans, Imps and the TzHaar (as well as Sirens and Sea Orphans, but those were never part of the big races). I'm EXTREMELY curious was the Mahjarrat sound like and, with some luck, Zanik and the gods too.

  11. Since Jagex are hopefully fixing the percentual traits soon, I need a captain slot open to buy (and probably dismiss) 10k captains to get at least one for each role with 4x Seafriend/Leader/Tactician. So which do you lot deem most expendable from this lot:

PS: I have a 10k Morale captain visiting at the moment.

So apparently 0 Adventurer rerolls is the maximum now (I had 0 for a few days)?

    [bleep] you, Jagex. [bleep] you.

I expect to be reimbursed for this, but I know I won't be.

Are you sure it's adventurer reroll?

Doesn't crew reroll use that same icon in the rewards screen?

If it was, my Crew reroll effects aren't maxed either.

  13. If my 25 chi + merchant + fortune of sea succeeds i got enough chi for superior sea singer legs ;x

Succeeded plate & laqcuer earlier, those jade statues dont give any +trade goods btw, got 25 laqcuer without any bonusses >.<

I'm going to crush your dreams with this but it needs to be said for all to hear; jade statues boost your trade goods by 1%.

That, and the fact that totems are added multiplicatively rather than additively {ie: base x 1.01 x 1.01 rather than base x (1.01+1.01)} AND that boosts round down, means that jade statues have only ONE USE; that is turning the Whaler's final storyline mission's reward from 100 spices to 101 spices (Merchants and FotS not applied).

It doesn't work on anything else.

Yeah, you just got Jagex'd, son.
