  1. If I saw him, and he spoke to me, simply knowing his existence, I would worship. I've already promised him that, the day I decided to stop being a christian. I prayed for hours, half-crying, saying "All I want is a sign. If you exist, please tell me. If you do, I'll worship you forever, but until then, I have no reason to".
  2. The following are some images and photos from Iraq, that you will never see in the news. Just let this remind you that not everything you hear on the news is true, and not every truth is the whole truth. At the very least, we can not support the war, but we must always support our troops with families, and friends, and a hundred people each who care about them.
  3. http://www.flexbeta.net/main/comments.p ... news=13839 The new version of Windows... codenamed Longhorn.. Leaked screenshots. Weren't meant ot be released. There ya go. This shows off the new 3-D and transluscent window capabilities, among other things (including the unbefreakinlievable system specs of the computer used to test the new version!! (Gee, I hope it works with me 2.6 ghz Emachines with 256 mb of ram. :P)
  4. http://www.grand-illusions.com/videos/d ... lusion.wmv save, run, look, be amazed, put your sox back on, lather, rinse, and repeat. biggrin.gif it's not a computer graphic or anything, it's not artificialy made, it's just a piece of folded paper. XD it wasn't altered in any way. It is just a folded, printed piece of paper. Print out the following, and cut and fold it as indicated to make your own. (Download it to your computer before opening, or it'll look weird and not print out right.) http://www.grand-illusions.com/images/dragon.JPG
  5. Maybe injecting someone with just a 'little' bit of smallpox will immunize them for the rest of their life  AMAZINGLY well put! (That's the example I was looking for to prove that it could be a good thing, but couldn't find within my mind. :P)
  6. I wasn't aware the comparison between teaching a child, and killing one was a debate. And that IS stupid.
  7. profiteering my but. there's no way she would have known that would make any money. As for how the result is difinitive... THEY TALK ABOUT IT ON THE VIDEO, YOU NIT. You're wrong, you're just too stupid to see it.
  8. Children learn 10x more in their first 10 years of life than in the rest of it put together, they will become the adult they were raised like as a child. Telling kids not to do it doesn't work. You're just working in a perfect situation, but in your way there would be no racism already. Telling someone it hurts others feelings is no where near as effective as showing them how badly it hurts. If you accept that children are '10x' as impressionable, surely they are also much easier to hurt mentally as well, why should we subject them to such a slapdash experiment by this woman, who by the way now exploits money from copycats at seminars and workshops. Okay, ends *don't* justify means cjlh. Just because they learned a good lesson doesn't justify the way they learned it. I could "teach" you that murder was wrong by murdering your sibling, but even though you "learned" a lesson, doesn't make it right! (this is a far fetched example, but it's a parellel) However, whether or not these children were permanently affected by this is completely unproveable so please keep the unbased assumptions to yourself higothrekk. What about their unbased assumption that the children benefited from this in any way other than being degraded? that's not unbased. You can see them talking in the video, you idiot. It positively effected them throughout their whole lives many years later.
  9. I both agree, and disagree, so I'll leave that last one alone. :P I think ends can justify means thouh. If you have to kill 10 people to save a hundred, so be it. to do otherwise, is simply not logical .
  10. Because murder and drugs actualy hurt them. You push a bird out of its nest to teach it to fly. You might use lying to a child in a controlled environment to teach a child that lying is not okay, because it make speople feel bad. You can teach a child by example any of a thousand ways for any of a million reasons. You cannot compare things like injecting a child with drugs, or murdering a child to showing the child firsthand what racism is like for a day. You're just coming up with crap that is fully unrealistic and nowhere near similar to try and support your idiotic beliefs. I'd rather show a million kids by example and make them feel badly for one day, than allow them to go out into the world and many of them turn into racists and make anyone who isn't their color feel badly their whole lives.
  11. You are blowing this out of proportion and comparing it to ridiculous stuff again. The only way to prove your point is to prove something else, abandoning your point entirely. You don't know what you're talking about. The adults aren't abusing the children, and they're not teaching them it's okay! The purpose is teach them it's NOT okay. God damn, you're stupid.
  12. As for your first question, children don't ask to go to school, be parented, or be tought. For the second, yes, I would teach my children in this same way. I intend to, in fact. They will know it's just a demonstration, just as those kids do. If someone being artificialy rude to them for a day and a half to 2 days, can damage them psychologicaly, then they shouldn't be in school in the first place. I think you're just an uptight [puncture] who can't think of anything better to do than criticize someone else's ingenius idea, because your daddy never loved you or some other stupid crap. Either way, I'm done talking to you. You obviously have no sense of reason or logic.
  13. Ah, you see I didn't understand it was ok to abuse children so long as it was only for 2 days and were being taught respect, I guess those nice innocent people who killed their baby by putting cigarettes out on her for a couple of days were only teaching her not to cry when mommy and daddy were busy gulping down the vodka? How in the name of all that is unholy do you go from a lesson about racism to comparing it to killing a baby by burning holes in it?..................... You were the one advocating abuse to teach so long as it was short term and had some vauge chance to imprint more on children than usual, I was just putting it in a different context. I never advocated abuse. I advocated lessons. She told them from the beginning that it was just an exercise. Context has nothing to do with it. Teaching a child is nothing like killing it...
  14. How in the name of all that is unholy do you go from a lesson about racism to comparing it to killing a baby by burning holes in it?..................... Your definition of abuse doens't allow for any form of parenting or teaching what so ever, that involves a lesson learned by experience.
  15. If they were "marked", they were marked with a greater understanding of "the other shoe". At the end (of what was only 2 days of this exercise) she told them all exactly what was going on, and tought them a darn good lesson.
  16. Perhaps the most amazing thing is how the difference between being TOLD you're superior or inferior had such a great effect on the mental state of the person who believed they were more stupid actualy began to ACT more stupid. Their beliefs and those of others as they were impressed upon them effected them so strongly, however unfounded, that they took on the shape and form of what they were expected to be, and believed to be. It was, as the man said, a sense of hopelessness. Maybe a subconcious attitude of "If they all think I'm stupid, maybe I am stupid... If I'm stupid, then why even bother trying to outdo anyone?"
  17. Agreed. This is a very valuable lesson for everyone. PS - Love the Stargate avatar. ;) that show pwnz.
  18. Good idea. That is something everyone can learn from. :)
  19. Thanks. :) Glad you liked it. BTW, WOW@your post count.
  20. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sh...d/etc/view.html I saw a story on the register news, about a woman in the '60s (and '70s). She was an Iowa schoolteacher who, the day after Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered in 1968, gave her third-grade students a first-hand experience in the meaning of discrimination. This is the story of what she taught the children, and the impact that lesson had on their lives. I strongly recommend that EVERYONE watch ALL of these segments. This is something that would change anyone's life, just to see, wether you're the most culturaly diverse person on the planet, or a member of the KKK. I myself, though I've never had a problem with any particular race, learned many a thing in watching these vid files. I will have been forever changed, in a small way, because of this dramatic realization. This is something that nobody can miss. It's not the kind of thing you might see in school assemblies, like some dude standing in front of you saying "racism is wrong, mmm'kay?", it's something almost subliminal. Even if you don't notice it, you WILL be changed by this. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sh...d/etc/view.html EDIT: Oh, I'm afraid they all require real media player, but it's still way more than worth it! It's something like 50 minutes in total. It's fairly long, but you'll learn an incredible ammount. After reading the forum rules, I've found that according to what I know, it's okay to post these links. If I was wrong, please feel free to remove them or delete/lock this post. Sorry if I am wrong, but I didn't see any rule against posting links (that aren't referral or possibly harmful links)
  21. cram it, kthx. This is not about the government and the one man who is apparently (though not really) making all the decisions. It is about our roots, and our beliefs. You are an idiot. Legalised abortions are legal murder, by the way.
  22. Today is the celebration of the anniversary of our freedom from oppression. Today is the celebration of the anniversary of our freedom of speech. Today is the celebration of the anniversary of our freedom to vote. Today is the celebration of the anniversary of our freedom to live as we choose to live. Today is the celebration of the anniversary of our freedom of religion. Today is the celebration of the anniversary of our freedom from religious censorship. Today is the celebration of the anniversary of our freedom to live, to die, to exist, and speak and worship (or to not) in any way that we see fit. Today is the day that we celebrate our independence and our freedom. Today is the day we honor our troops, both living and long passed. Today is the day that we must always remember ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ this is not just a day where we set off shimmering fireworks, and put up bright decorations. This is the day that we celebrate and honor our brothers, and sisters ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ these, our mothers, and fathers ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ these our cousins and uncles. Today is the day that we thank all those who gave their very lives. Those who would die for freedom, rather than live under an oppressive rule. Today is the day that we give thanks to all those who can not be here to celebrate with us ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ those who were taken from us because of the very purpose for our celebration - in the name of freedom. FREEDOM. Freedom is the one word that has driven us for the past 224 years. It is the one concept that has given us hope ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ that has given us strength ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ that has given us the will to fight, to live, and even to die. Freedom is the reason we will never fall. At times, certain men and women are faced with the decision ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Do we die for freedom, or do we live in vain? Do we sacrifice our lives, so that others will be free? Many of us would respond ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åno̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
