  1. I'm having trouble getting Pokémon Online to run on Ubuntu. I really hope I don't have to resort to Wine. I have something special in store for all of you.

Let me guess: Contrary Spinda and Smeargle?

  2. Today I climbed up again after falling 4,000 feet underground to destroy the plans of a power-dizzy supercomputer by shooting a celestial body with a bulletless gun. All in a day's work.

Yep, that's cryptic enough to avoid hide tags.

Anyone who's played even halfway through knows what you're referring to. Hell, by Chapter 6, this'd make perfect sense.

Been playing Super Robot Wars Z2 lately.

  3.

"A bird in a bird in a bird in a bird in a bird in a pig"

Think of this dude as an inverse. While not making ridiculously large meals, he prepares them using the most insane methods imaginable.

  4. Well, I'm not going to provide too much help with Silvertaler's problem as I'm not sure what the best course of action would be.

Anyway, advice time. This is how it goes. You get an orangutan. I’m not talking a monkey or some dancing chimp BS, I mean a damn orangutan. Don’t ask me how you’re gonna get an orangutan, that’s not my problem. So the orangutan’s name is Clyde. This is non-negotiable, all orangutans are named Clyde. I don’t know why this is, it’s just how the world works. So you and Clyde become man (and ape) about town. You’re seen everywhere together, you make the scene. You and friends go out in big groups. You talk loud, you laugh louder. Every time you say something witty you high-five the orangutan. The town begins to buzz. It gets back to her. “Did you know the guy with the orangutan?” “You used to date the guy with the orangutan?” “Why would you break up with a guy with an orangutan?” Next thing you know she’s calling.

“I’m hoping we can still be friends. Wanna hang out sometime?” “Geez I dunno, me and Clyde were going to a monster truck race tonight. (Orangutans love monster trucks) In fact the whole social calendar seems kinda full. I tell you what, I’ll make a little note (what was your name again?) and maybe I can squeeze you in.” “Oh, well you know my number so don’t be a stra-” “Hey look at the time! I gotta skate, Clyde’s making Mojitos’.”

At this point the upper hand is yours. You can let her twist in the wind; you can draw her back into your life at the pace you decide. Whatever, it’s your life. But if you’re a smart man? You slowly phase her back in. You’re IM’ng. You’re talking on Live. You get invited to family functions. You bring Clyde, he becomes like one of the family. You’re one big Brady Bunch.

Then the orangutan [bleep]s her mother. It is the perfect plan. I know I'll be using it when I can get another orangutan.

  5. I feel like I'm kind of old school. I just came back after being inactive for a few months as well...Kinda forgot about TIF.

    you're not missed, don't worry ;)

    aha

Ouch buddy, I thought we had gotten over our differences in the rants forum by now.

    I think he's joking around :P

  6. Since you seem to have no problem installing new software, Wubi might be worth a look.

Just set it up, install Java and whatever video drivers, and away you go. There's no repartitioning/reformatting, you get persistence, and you don't need to worry about a CD/USB disk. WebWatcher will still have no clue when you use it. The downside is that it isn't as easy to hide as a flash disk.

It might be easier to install it off in some unknown location outside of Program Files or something, like system or something so it doesn't show up.

If anything, I feel bad that someone is getting scammed paying $1200 for what's a load of garbage with the potential to go horribly wrong.

  7. If bullies don't know that there's consequences for their actions, when are they going to stop thinking they're above everyone else? When they actually kill someone? When they actually ruin someone else's life or they get arrested for something? When they get killed? And don't pull a slippery slope argument, as a lot of them end up following this exact same chain

So is it a child's job to teach a bully 'consequences' with their fists?

When a parent tells a child to stand up for themselves by fighting, do they really understand what they're sanctioning, what they're sending their child into? Will they really learn the value of self-confidence if they come out of a fight with a broken nose, broken bones, concussions, or anything of the sort? And if they lose that fight? Tell me, who was hurt more then, the bully or the victim?

Adults and teachers are useless in this scenario. THEY NEVER HELP. YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS.

I was subjected to such a fate. I tried getting help. Too bad help never came. Adults are useless. Teachers are useless. Hell, even your parents are ultimately useless. Very few will actually act on it for fear of getting sued or something. I tried to stay pacifistic until they actually attacked. I had to fight then, there was no negotiations at that point. It was either fight back, or die. I had a broken nose and ring finger after that debacle, they lost an eye and probably their ability to reproduce. Case in point, if you have to fight, fight dirty. I'd advise against it if it can be avoided, but sometimes, that option just isn't available. As for fighting dirty, don't be afraid to hit them in the groin, hit them in the eye, use whatever object is lying around, etc.

Bullies are not human beings in a sense in that they are not very nice nor have any form of empathy or reason. There is no reasoning with them. Force is the only thing that'll stop them.

  8. Why not try uninstalling the damn thing? Oh wait, maybe you should realize that Runescape, first and foremost, is a horrible game. Also, good on your dad for blocking Runescape, as you'll be happy for it later. As for everything else, there is no reason to block the rest of it.

Also, anything with "adware" in it's name generally is malicious. This webwatcher crap is notorious for doing a lot of things it shouldn't, like hiding the process. It's a malicious thing. It doesn't show up on the tab either. Well, I found what might help you in any case:

    http://www.removeadware.com.au/articles/webwatcher/

    This might help.

Also, you've been playing since you were 7? God, you have some really [cabbage]ty parents. Goddamn they should be jailed for letting such a travesty like this occur.

  9. This is the hardest game? Weird, I always thought contra was due to the limited continues/hard campaign.

Did you even read the topic title in full? Hardest game on the internet

While we're on this tangent, I Wanna be the Fangame. An even harder version of IWBTG

  10. Kids are going to fight. Kids are going to pick on eachother. And everyone will eventually snap under those conditions. I don't condemn him for finally reaching his breaking point, and I feel sympathy with him having been bullied myself a lot as a kid. But I will never sing the praises of kids who retaliate against bullies, because it's still not right and teaches the wrong things to kids who can't grasp the difference.

(I'm going to be a terrible parent probably.)

  11. Which I am disagreeing with, and telling you why I disagree. ;)

But seriously, the room is the worst movie ever made. It's like iron man with Tommy Wiseau, except he doesn't wear a metal suit to cover his silly face.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Room_(film)

That's nothing. It's bad, but not as bad as Troll 2, Manos the Hands of Fate or Plan 9 From Outer Space. Or even the Human Centipede. Which I was a bad enough dude to watch while eating chili.

  12. I still think a lot of the members let their emotions get too involved. We're human beings; we're not perfect. But I think we can work to prevent this from happening again. I really wish we can as well.

Allow me to tell the story of hl.undernet. hl.undernet (What used to be a fairly good half-life fansite) was a fair community of sorts. It was more of a tight-knit group, but still let new members into the fold, and hit 5000 members at some point. Keep in mind this was back in 1999, and pulling those numbers was rather difficult. Arguments did occur over the stupidest things, but it ultimately thrived for a while. There was one rending issue: Garry. I'll just admit he was probably one of the most scathing and terrible people ever, even though he did make Garry's Mod. He was an admin of the site at the time. He instituted some rather blunt rules and banned some of the more respectable members for reasons that were never made clear, nor will be due to the information being lost. People discussed the bannings, wondering what they did. Despite this, things worked fine for a while.

Circa 2001, things started to fall apart. Garry got even more ban-happy, he wouldn't admit he was in the wrong, talks about the most effective tactics in Team Fortress Classic, Counterstrike 1.6 and such got out of hand, and due to Garry just banning people instead of working with them, the community ultimately rended itself apart over this. Eventually the number of members dropped like flies, and the site ultimately vanished off the face of the internet. Records on the matter really don't exist anymore.

The only difference between that story and this, is that the mods and such are admitting they made a mistake, and the community size. That's it. I don't want to see a repeat of this.
