  1. Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits, and I can't help but noticing that it has the most interesting texture I've ever experienced.

You bite down and it's like threads splitting between your teeth. It's like the way salmon comes apart except on a much smaller scale... That definitely doesn't make sense. D:

    It's super juicy, too.

Mmm, I love pineapples. They're one of my favorite fruits, just behind strawberries and passion fruit.

On the topic of pineapple and pizza.... Anyone else love pizza with ham and pineapple on it? It's amazing...

    Yes. Yes I do.

As for my drink of choice for tonight?

  2. Yeah I do, I'm 5'10 and I weigh 140 :/ I want to weigh less as well.

Why? For your height that seems fine.

If anything you're a bit on the light side. As for me? 5'10" and 175 lb / 178 cm and ~80kg and I'm in fairly good shape. I'm not fat, although for some odd reason I always feel like I don't have any energy and can barely get myself moving.

  3. I'd figure as an old protoss player you'd have switched to zerg because of infestors.

Get them. Always. There is no reason not to. Against mass thor just NP all the thors.

That's not going to work come the 1.4 patch, Blizz is making it impossible to NP massive units apparently.

In any case, as for that Protoss 1/1/1 build, it looks cool, although I can see a ghost/marine stopping it, alongside a 2 port banshee build breaking it. Marines and ghosts emp the large part of the army, preferably the stalkers while the banshees pick at the stalkers. You lose your stalkers, and the banshees will have a field day with what you have lying around, even moreso if they have cloak and you forget an obs.

  4. I go by a different moral rule of judgements. "Judge, and be prepared to be judged."

But yeah, let's denounce the evil Jagex and defend the guy with child pornography.

I'll just re-iterate a point: Jagex could have handled this a lot better than they did. I'm not defending the owner of RV in terms of what he's done, but Jagex really made a bone-headed move here. Then again, this is Jagex we're referring to here.

  5. The problem with sex offender registries is that everyone from rapists to the guy who had sex with his 17 year old girlfriend can end up on them. That said, this guy surely must have been aware of the restrictions, fair or otherwise, placed upon people in such a position and should have known better than to start up a fan site for an online game at a point when the majority of it's player base was underage. I'll agree that sometimes people make mistakes, and sometimes they go to prison simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and once you've done your time you deserve a second chance but this is one of those crimes that follows you for the rest of your days.

Could you explain to me in the legislation at hand, where it says he cannot run a fan site for a game which may have or may not have kids involved? I'm not in the US so I don't know the law there like I do here.

Generally, people who are convicted of crimes that would require registration as a sex offender come with restrictions relative to their crimes. The most common of which are things like being prevented from working around children (like in a school), volunteering for groups that work with children (Boy Scouts/Girl Guides, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, etc...), not living within a certain distance of school or playground...that kind of thing. Considering one of the things he was convicted of was distribution of pornographic pictures of minors, I'm sure he has similar restrictions placed upon him.

While starting up a fansite for a game aimed at minors might not be technically violating any of his restrictions, I'm sure it easily falls into a grey area that a man of his age should have known well enough to avoid. Especially if he is simply trying to put such things behind him and move on with his life as a law abiding citizen (a commendable course that we should all be supportive of).

Edit: I just realized he may have restrictions against him forbidding him from initiating contact with minors, or communicating with minors who are not family over the internet (not unreasonable considering he distributed the offensive pictures via email). If so, then starting up the fansite would easily fall under the list of things he shouldn't be doing.

Keep in mind while I write this, that we'll never be in full possession of the facts concerning this case, as per Hiker's words. I only comment with absolute certainty on what I know to be true. I speculate on the basis of what I know to be valid assumptions.

    The Facts:

Hiker started RuneVillage in 2002. He was convicted on obscenity charges concerning the distribution of child pornography in 1995; at this time, Georgia's pornography distribution laws did not require registration of the offender because they were classified as obscenity offenses rather than sexual offenses. He moved to Tennessee in 2000, and in 2003 at the latest, TN changed its pornography distribution laws to constitute a sexual offense, requiring him to register as a sex offender. He was arrested on a warrant in 2005 for 'failing to register' as an offender although he was not legally required to register at the time he left; nor did he know that the laws concerning this had changed. Because of this, the charges were initially dropped.

I'm only chiming in to comment on this. If TN changed it's laws, the Constitution clearly states that there should be no retroactive punishment by virtue of the fact no governing body is allowed to pass ex post facto laws. So why did they force him to register, when it's clearly unconstitutional? I'm referring to how it was an obscenity charge, and they changed it retroactively.

  6. I was going to draw the Last Supper but then I remembered I'm easily discouraged. When I saw how much I had to draw, even though I could do it as worse as I wanted, I couldn't do it. I can't keep at something for as long as I'd like to sometimes because I get discouraged.

If you're going for something like that, you need to start small and build up to it. Do simpler things first, or do stuff in parts over time. Don't feel as though you have to do everything perfectly.

Get books at the library. I'm reading a book that's part novel, part history of philosophy. It's called Sophie's World, by Jostein Gaarder. It's aimed towards a younger demographic I think, but it's still pretty interesting

If you really want to be in front of a computer, try http://library.nu.

On the topic of books, I've recently read House of Leaves. What the christ. It gets worse too. For one of the courses I'm taking, the prof posted an assignment asking us to read the syllabus and just comment that we did along with any questions. I ended up adding two paragraphs from the book.

  7. ... People in diamond are [developmentally delayed]ed.

I 3 gate expanded and managed to hold off an win against a terran who did a 1/1/1 all-in. (scouted it and threw down a stargate, pumped out voids) He than proceeds to cry about how PROTOSS is imbalanced... all while doing the most imbalanced build in the entire game. I'm so confused. So many of these people seem to have gotten this far purely by using all-in builds :S.

I'm currently platinum 1v1 and the amount of cheese is ridiculous. It's gotten to the point where I'm throwing down a bunker and grabbing some early marines if I even suspect an inkling of an all-in tactic.

In other news, 4v4 is ridiculous. It's almost impossible to figure a tactic that'll work well enough, and conventional tactics won't work (IE Rolling a small group of hellions into a base before they can wall in. There's also one match where within 3 minutes they had a rax and a bunker sitting about one screen away from my command, and I had no idea how to even go about handling it.

    Speaking of which, what's 1/1/1? 1 rax 1 fact 1 starport or?

  8. Funnily enough, I wasn't even partying or anything. Cute German exchange student, met her in comm class today, got to talking, hung out with her....

    Dat accent.

    I'm calling bull[cabbage].

  9. Which is why I suggested computer shops for building a desktop.

Also, stay away from HP laptops. Unless you want your house to catch on fire.

Yeah if you're new to it I second going to a shop and having them build it. They'll charge you for them to build it, and just about any reputable builder won't charge you if it doesn't work correctly I think, but it's a lot easier and they're trained to do it. Building a desktop is like legos, only they're expensive legos. Other than the CPU, it's really damn easy to do.

  10. I beat Half-Life2 today. I haven't played the first Half-Life yet. My face had so many "what the [bleep]s" on it at the end, I might as well have watched Cowboys & Aliens again.

Really wish I knew the back story haha

HL1 is like $5-10. Go pick it up on Steam. I personally think HL1 is better, but HL2 has it's draws that make it good (Story, Gravity Gun, etc).

  11. I don't think anyone's really immune to stage fright, especially in front of a large group. The only thing you can really do is practice.

As for me, I took on a more bombastic and hammy voice, and try to pretend that no one is really there. What you need to do is try to clear your mind of the audience, only acknowledging as necessary. As for the bombastic acting...

  12. I was actually trying to think of a fun event that involves copying avatars and signatures. I think it'd be fun to 'attack' maybe the Runescape General Discussion, copying a bunch of their regulars' avatars and signatures and posting (not necessarily spamming, but trying to make decent posts) on a certain day, just to mess with them.

    This could be fun.

    I'm in.

    I shall assist.

    You have my sword.

  13. Today, I found out that one of my friends got bailed out of jail. Why was he in jail? He got pissed at his mum, through around all he make up or something and then threw a vase at her, to which she called the cops on him. She's a solo parent as well. He goes to court on Wenesday.

Oh, and the idiot also has 'FTP' tattooed onto his wrist.

    File Transfer Protocol?

    Probably F*** The Police.

  14. Forge FE into stargate pressure into build a deathball.

PvZ is still my worst match up though. Pretty much if they get to brood lords = I lose. If they don't build them = I win.

Don't forget well-played Brofestors (or Infestors, whichever suits your fancy.) I've made it a habit to calling almost everything some variant of bro. (Brotoss, brofestors, broverlords, etc.)

My worst matchup is other terrans so far. Other annoying tactics include 6pools (Usually if I repel it fine, I win), colossi rushes (hate these, have to fast track to reactored starports to counter this.), and muta harass. They're pretty much the sole reason I might start getting missile towers against Z if I even suspect them to use mutas.

Also, thor rushes are hilarious if they work.

  15. And that's the reason why the Catholic Church does not support, and actually is against that type of interpretation of the Bible. Fundamentalism proves to be very problematic.

    Indeed it does.

Examples? 9/11, Westboro Baptist Church, Scientology, and stealing a donut from a nun. They let their emotions over their imagination take over like some sort of wildfire.

And I was laughing through the entirety of the chatroulette video.

  16. Taqueray Gin + Schweppes Tonic Water here.

Rum + Coke isn't bad either.

Also, Goldschlager, seeing how you guys were discussing it last page... holy [cabbage]. A shot didn't quite make me throw up but made me dangerously close to doing so. I can do gin and tonic all day long but that stuff kicks my ass.

  17. Can't wait till class on Tuesday, i want to meet some people. I've met a few people in my building but unfortunately my floor is a bit quiet. Cute shy girl next door, but I've only seen her like twice. And at the school events I've met some people but they aren't exactly my type of people to hang around. Hopefully I'll make some good friends in class :)

Oh, and also, I cancelled my Xbox Live Gold, cancelled my Runescape membership and I'm quitting, and I'm limiting myself to one soda a day max. Cutting off the superfluous spending.

I quit runescape about four years ago. What took you so long? :P

Just spent most of the day rocking some Starcraft II. Finally broke into Platinum 1v1 as Terran.

:L you still play the ladder. Broke Masters, then found nothing but all in [cabbage]. Got demoted back to top diamond and havnt played sense. That game makes me rage more than some of the personal problem I have.

Cheeses are common no matter where you look. I've only had the game for two weeks also.

  19. You're missing the point of having a breakfast.

Breakfast is supposed to provide energy that lasts throughout the day, keep you from cravings during lunch (salad isn't necessarily healthy. how much dressing do you put on that thing? and do you actually satisfy your hunger when you have it?), raise concentration levels, and to keep metabolism high. By having breakfast late, you miss at least three of the key reasons (and lose out on the benefits) of having breakfast.

I think it would be easier to transition from having a small breakfast since you don't feel hungry in the morning, to having a large® breakfast. I think you're more likely to fail to transition into the habit if you shifted the schedule...

    FullBreakfast.jpg

Regarding breakfast, statistically speaking, most people who eat breakfast weight ~5lbs less than those who don't. I'd have to find that study, so just take my word for it for now.

Steak and Shake is just so delicious at 1AM.
