  1. Just to clarify if you were talking to me in the first part or not, I don't know why the bans were made, so I can't say whether or not they were justified (Levon's on the other hand was, but that was on his own part, and had nothing to do with your group, and I have personally witness Grimy telling him never to do that again).

I suppose the differing opinion thing isn't trolling, so basically what you're asking for is a local clause in an efficiency subforum stating what exactly? What would be disrupting, yet not trolling? Someone having a differing opinion would just be a discussion, yes?

Nope, wasn't referring to you in the first part of my post. Sorry if that put you off.

To answer your question, it's a matter of attitude. What are you here on the forums for. If you aren't here to give or receive advice, or to do research, I don't hate you but there's not much space for you on the forums. We're trying to get work done. If someone comes into your office to talk about something completely unrelated, as a manager I'd think it's perfectly reasonable to ask that person to leave the premises.

Opinions that further discussion are and should be distinguishable from opinions that have nothing to do with metagaming.

    For example:

CLS vs rapier. "I think CLS might be better because its slower attack time allows SS flashing to be easier" (wrong, but still in the vein of finding out what weapon is actually best)

    versus,

CLS vs rapier. "I think CLS is better because it looks cooler and has a better attack animation" (wrong, but discusses something totally unrelated)

Obviously a user wouldn't be banned for the latter comment. I'd just keep it in mind and observe over time.

No worries, I was just making sure, as I didn't think it was towards myself.

I completely understand (being a manager at the store I work with). I agree that if they aren't into metagaming, they shouldn't be giving advice in that forum, and could be asked to do so. If they aren't actually asking a question in the efforts to learn, and are stern about that latter comment, they should be asked to leave.

  2. If you think a lot of the bans were justified, then you don't really have a good grasp on the situation. Either that or I completely disagree with your sense of justice.

As with your subforum, if a poster "disrupts" a metagaming forum, would that not be considered trolling?

Trolling = intentionally bothering someone else for your own amusement

which is different than genuinely having a different opinion

Also I don;t think a rule clause about disrupting 1 specific member group is needed. Yes a forum specific rule in a meta-gaming forum; but not an overall one. Same as clan forums have specific rules that dont apply elsewhere.

Yeah and I think a global clause like that would be unfair. But that's not what I'm pushing for.

  3. I think it would be a good idea for meta-gamers to have their own forum on Tip.It. If things can remain under control and discussions civil, there isn't anything bad about it that I can see.

The problem, though, is spill-over from other boards and members. As far as I know, they're not trying to split up H&A, and there are a lot of attitudes that I just don't think are constructive for H&A.

Also, a problem is picking who to moderate. There's really only one mod here who promotes RS metagaming. A lot of the mods here are fair but they don't really take sides, or are not as active both in game and on the forums as I would like. There are also a few mods that are completely out of touch and have made terrible judgment calls (like all of the recent bannings) that I want NOTHING to do with. I don't think admins would kick those mods out.

Another thing is that tip it would never include a clause like "action will be taken against players who are deemed disruptive to the metagaming community". AFAIK the admins don't think that kind of clause is fair. I think it's totally vital for us to select the community that we want.

Didn't another mod make a post saying mods can't ban? I'm asking genuinly as being Crew, I know nothing of the Mod side (in fact, I rarely talk with them).

As with your subforum, if a poster "disrupts" a metagaming forum, would that not be considered trolling?

  4. Going to be honest here:

I have a long history of tip it as do most of the other people I'm involved with. The most ideal solution would be for us to have our own space on tip it. It reduces our overhead (good for us) and it keeps us under tip it's banner (good for tip it)

But it's the general attitude of a lot of people, mods, posters alike, HIGHLIGHTED like a sore thumb on this thread (i'll try not to name names) that makes me feel more strongly about leaving.

If we were to make a new space on tip it, mods NEED to pick sides or we're going to continue have these stupid arguments. If administration cannot promise that action is taken against disruptive users - not necessarily blanket banning but banning for certain forums - I just don't see why I'd want to be a part of tip it anymore.

But I don't really see that happening, given tip it moderator history.

Separating gives us a clean slate, away not only from trolls but also the genuine but annoying / immature / brash users that tip it currently has.

Your own space as in...your own forum?

  5. He wanted it taken down because he wanted to be appreciated. And his posts, while often blunt, offered very good insight. People have different opinions about this but that is what I think. Anyways, the topic of those-who-naming-warrents-bans has been beaten to death.

Edit: @Sy They have more right to do those things then other players who remain unbanned yet were bigger trolls and flamers.

Wanted to be appreciated, or immature because he didn't get his own way?

Yes...some posts giving insight, most others not. Just because he's given one positive, doesn't mean the 10 negatives are wiped. Don't be silly.

If I was the Admins I would have put a stop to their kids game months ago and not let them think they have some hold on the community because of some information they have compiled, I would have sooner told them where to go -- and in a manner that's not so friendly.

The reasoning behind wanting his guide taken down is because you don't know a good thing until it's gone. I suppose the thought process was that people take the advice given for granted, and he/we/the rest of the efficient community didn't want that.

No one's arguing his guide wasn't a good thing. However that doesn't excuse his behavior in the slightest.

  6. So from what I understand it's people who are efficient vs. noobs?

    Do I have this right?

No, it's a certain group (who happen to be efficient) vs. some staff. Your argument is mainly in H&A, and even then it's not always true, as they would flame anyone who gave advice OTHER than their advice (not all of them, but a few of them), even when the other advice was a valid piece of advice for those who aren't seeking 100% efficiency.

  7. Just take them down.

Leaving it up says that we need these clowns.

    We don't.

It's an honor to have your guide featured on an internet fansite.

Especially, one of the premier platinum ones.

But, whatever if they think they are special, then let them go somewhere else and be special with guides which don't look so special.

    It's already been taken down.

  8. How are you getting an average of ten minutes per game on world 99? I used that world for 80something-99 construction and averaged 16 to 17 minutes from the start of one game to another. This was a year to two years ago though. I just don't think ten minutes is accurate for world 99 Fast Sc. Sorry to be off topic though

That's usually what it was for around me, and that was probably a year or so ago.

  9. Depending on the bully, simply sticking up for yourself is enough. Not all bullies have the ability (for lack of better word) to fight, they just talk a game to be cool, and to get a reaction, and once that reaction stops, they don't know what to do. I've seen this more often than not.

  10. Faster with your own. I believe you are supposed to take the two herbs(can't remember name) and the rest of the invy/tort with d bones. Light the burners, offer the bones, bank, repeat.

    Marrentill.

You can either have your house in Yanille, or just do a house teleport. Light, sacrifice, bank, repeat.

  11. What the hell happened while i was playing Hat Fortress

I love TIF, its a shame to see people getting broken/beaten up like this

I HATE efficiency but i still like listening to people talk about it. Was it really that much of a problem?

Cmon guys cant you do better than this

That wasn't the problem. Part of it was when some of them (not all) would bash other people for saying anything OTHER than the absolute most efficient (even though not everyone wants that option). The other part was when some of them had ideas that were both reasonable and unreasonable, and debates started happening with the admins, and it just went downhill from there.

  12. I wasn't bullied in school for the reason that I stood up for myself, even if I knew the guy could eat me whole. That is part of the reason I was in the "popular" crowd, you can say. There were less popular kids that didn't like me, and when they took a swing at me, I knocked them down, and got suspended for self-defense (a few occasions through high school). My aunt (who raised me) never punished me as she always told me to defend myself, and that's how I taught my son (who's currently almost 3, and several months ago, a kid was picking on him, so he took him down and put him in a headlock...at 2 years old...).

  13. [spoiler=Solution]PEMDAS

    48/2 * (9+3)

    =24(9+3)

    Distributive property...

    = 216 + 72

    = 288

You can't use the distributive property if you use Pemdas...the first letter of Pemdas is Parenthesis, which would make it

    48/2*12...

Same answer, just pointing that out.

  14. Thank you for your submission :)

What do you mean by "charging the urn"? The act of adding the rune to the urn?

Adding a note that they may be assisted for those who do not quite the levels is a note that should indeed be added. Not all of us have high crafting after all :P

I don't think Saraownsj00 was referring to the general act of crafting an urn, here. At any rate, we don't explicitly mention whether or not you can use the assist system for a particular action. Unless we claim otherwise, you'll be able to get someone else to assist you.

Yes, I believe it was about adding runes to the urns (in which I confirmed the day they were released with Sio).

  15. Any recommendations on an RPG (Either for 360 or PS3) with a good storyline and gameplay? One of my favorite all time games was the Kingdom Hearts series (yes, I know I'm a bit old for that, but it was a great story, I thought, and loved the gameplay).

EDIT: I have Dragon Age and Infamous, those are two pretty good games as well. I'm not a fan of the Halo series though.

  16. Don't quote me on this, but wasn't some research done to show that waiting has more of a benefit than collecting everyday due to decimals being involved? And since Jagex rounds down, you wait until those decimals add up to give you another number. Also similar research I have seen (again cannot provide as I cannot recall where I saw it, but I know it was on these forums) suggests that 9/6 is a better ratio than 10/5, as both 9 and 10 give the same amount, however 6 gets bumped up a tier over 5.

PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, but this is just going by my memory from previous advice given.

You do 10/5 for the better maple ratio which in turn increases your # of nests.

Since maple does give a slight profit (I believe it's actually pretty significant now) and the nests are supposedly the majority of your income - well, it makes sense that you get more maple.

The thing is if you collect daily on a 9/6, then you're getting the same amount of bird nests.

However if you go 10/5 and collect weekly - you'll end up with more bird nests

You quoted him on it. The irony...it kills ;)

:shame: Naughty Naughty! And thanks for correcting my mistake!
