  1. thanks much, thought i was in the general forum..oops :s
  2. Im wondering about all the player preferred worlds for some of the minigames and companies. I know market is 1-9 and pc is 78 but thats it, can anyone tell me the others, or link me to a post that does? I appreciate it in advance.
  3. great idea, definately have my support =D>
  4. lol you miss the point here - blatant begging will not only NOT accomplish the goal, but will also ruin the reputatio of the person asking for it. The power making the suggestion needs to hint, or calmly suggest, not demand and beg.
  5. i appreciate the feedback, this was more of a time killer than a debatable subject. In response: Blackarch - While i obviously dont have the ability to audit politicians, they bring in millions in their campaign budgets, which has to go somewhere, even if not ALL into tv commercials. Nick - I was referring to the massive falidor riots and rants forum posts which were from people who said they were quitting, continuing to use ss, suing jagex (hah), ect. Abyssal - i dont beleive so, because those in power generally have the mental capacity to determine which suggestions are legitimate. 8 Year olds most likely cant submit a well worded, thought out suggestion which would be seriously considered. JFonseka - I wont flame you if you dont flame me ;)
  6. Alot of people notice how in real life the media - that is, newpapers, magazines, tv, radio, ect - can strongly influence events or decisions, but who would have thougth that it would transfer over to little old Runescape? Think about it...how many times have the big-city news agencies uncovered a story only to have it followed up by an "official investigation"? Why else would those media-savvy politicians use up millions on a few 30 second tv or radio ads? Take that over to Runescape and you have a powerfull weapon in a little game. Probably one of the most infamous examples of media influence is the recent 3rd Party Client mess. For anyone who may have missed it, JaGex extended their ban of 3rd party clients to include world switchers, more importantly, the powerfull SwiftSwitch. Upon hearing the news, players flocked to the forums - and subsequently various places in the game - to riot and show their extreme dissaproval of the move by JaGex. The SwiftSwitch website probably got more hits that week waiting for the update that would make it legal than Runescape.com itself. Imagine what would have happened if the SwiftSwitch creaters and the powers that be took the news offensively and, instead of looking for a solution like they did, posted that everyone should boycott runescape and continue rioting. Players would have done just that because they like the client so much that they will risk their accounts to defend it. Now on to the main point - why dont some of the powers use their influence? Websites, well known forum posters, and certain people with access to advertisements to the masses (banners, ads, ect) could use their influence to accomplish things the players want - a simple tip.it times article or two would get the message out that we want feature A, or we dont like update B. Not that this is an automatic set in stone "the update is coming" thing, but it would no doubt up the importance of said feature on JaGex's list. Granted there are certain courtesies that each permits the other. Jagex listend more attentive to people like the creator of swiftswitch when he has something to say, and the creator of swiftswitch listens more attentively when JaGex says "this is how its going to be". Neither would openly say anything that would cause the other to fall in rank in the eyes of the players - not anymore at least - but that doesnt mean that those with influence couldnt hint more frequently at things of importance to the players. Who knows, maybe one day Jagex will release more bank space, a bank organisation tool, and the perfect quest at the whim of a few players. Untill then, its up to those with power.
  7. I cant really rule in favor of either side here, but i do want to comment on it, hoping that i have quoted the right part of the post to make it realevant. I feel like emergent gameplay has been supressed some places, and allowed others when it should have gone different ways in both cases on occasion. Take the most recent uproar - the 3rd party client debate. Here you have BOTH forms of emergent gameplay, that which "improves" the game, and that whick spoils it. You have the helpfull tools on the various clients which were, untill recent updates (for some) deemed illegal, and you have the people who choose to abuse them, like those who used chat to scam/hack. Taking the policy of "if in doubt, DONT ban", where does the line get drawn? Say you have a client - any old world switcher, none in particular - that provides all the unofficial tools that are enjoyed by the runescape population, but it is also abused by certain players so that a few get scammed. (Again this is a hypothetical situation, not playing off of any recent statements. ) Does JaGex weigh the pros and cons of banning said program, or is it automaticly black-listed because of the few players who are taken advantage of? The key here is not the 3rd party clients, but the idea of "is emergent gameplay considered before being suppressed, or automaticly deemed bad if it has even the smallest fault". No matter what the case, it is certainly an entertaining read from both parties =D>
