  1. Hi, I got to think the other day, i am level 96 in fishing and i'm on a fishing rampage to 99. As i get closer i start feeling like this is one of the easiest skills to get to 99. Yes it takes a long...and i mean long time to get to it but it takes very little determination because i can go on websites, like this for instance, and do other things like blog, chat, or just read topics. Other skills require your full undivided attention. So do i have a right to feel like a worked for this 99 or is it just an easy skill to get to 99?

If you put your goal as getting 99 fishing, then yes, no matter what anyone says it is an accomplishment. It doesn't matter if its Fletching, Prayer, Summoning, Fishing, or Construction. What matters is the time and effort you put into your work that you personally have a goal set for.

Do not expect people to admire you or hold you in respect because of a goal you reached, because it is your goal, and not theirs. Every level 99 skill has the same level of respect as any other activity in Runescape.

    So to answer your question...

If your getting the 99 because you like the skill and enjoy the goal, then nobody's opinion matters anyway and it will be an accomplishment for you.

If your getting 99 to get fame and "respect" for doing a more difficult skill, you are going to be disappointed when you find out that "respect" does not really exist past your 5 minutes of fame.

  2. I thought about it, and I do like mining, but I don't like it *that* much :P

I'm more of a casual miner, once in awhile looking for rune rather than xp.

Especially using Lady Shahdie's rune mining guide! It's wonderful for anyone who mines rune. I normally get about 500-700k per hour or so rune mining with it, so it works very well. But all that world hopping gets old and tedious really fast.

I'm back to hunting Bizzles now, hoping to crank out a few more charms by the end of the week. If all goes as planned, I might have 95 Summon (Iron titan) by next weekend.

PS. Why is slayer tower so dark and damp  They should at least add some lighting or something, hurts my eyes looking at the dark green for so long lol.

  3. What a useless Jagex interview. Their policy about keeping future updates a "surprise" makes them talk like politicians. Never answering questions just talking around them. Do they really think it would be so bad to let us in on what they are planning in the future?

I think its because mainly Jagex HQ doesn't even know what is in store for updates. They don't want to say "so and so is going to be an update in the future" because then they get people saying "whats taking so long Jagex!" and "OMG stop all other updates and finish this one! I like it more!".

Hopefully in time as the Diaries become more numerous it will change that.

But as for stuff like the Ring if wealth, I do agree, I don't see whats so hard about just giving us a number. I mean they calculated how many chickens could kill Jad! Saying how much a % the ring helps wouldn't be all that difficult or change the game at all.

I just want Runescape to be less of a mystery and more of a game. A puzzle is never fun of you are only given half the pieces to solve it. Sure you might figure out what the picture is, but it would be nice if we could just have all the pieces.

  4. It only increases the chance of getting a rare drop.

People think this and assume the ring increased your chances of ANY rare drop compared to normal drops. This is false.

The Knowledge Base explains it better.

The ring of wealth affects not the number which thou may achieve upon the first wheel, but should thou gain the precise number to allow thee access to the second, the ring will make thy chances of gaining an object on that second roulette wheel all the greater.

As you can see from the statement above, the ring does NOT INCREASE your chance to get a rare drop in your overall drops, but rather increases the chance your rare drop will be more valuable, if you happen to spin a rare drop in the first place.

  5. Stance:

But a game like Runescape the main player based is younger teens and homosexuality and young teens just does not mix.

This is the exact reason why.

Runescape is a Fantasy Game. This meaning that is does not have to adopt real world principles and real world aspects. There would be no reason to add content such as this, because there should be no reason any sexual content should be in the game anyways. Neither Straight, Homo, or Bi sexual content should not be in the game at all respectively.

Runescape is designed for a younger audience, (13-20) And I feel anyone during that age is free to practice what they believe in, but there shouldn't be aspects of it in the game by the designers. Players can do what they want in game and that should be enough content, as it can be done in moderation.

    Religion: Non-Organized Christian

Orientation: It shouldn't matter because I am who I am. But Bisexual.

  6. A few weeks ago, we accidentally released a version of the top level interface that had a test option on the run button called Rest. Oops! That was my mistake.

What? When you click it the message appears in your chatbox saying "coming soon". Someone had to have taken the time to write that in and connect it to the clicking of the rest option. I think it was an intentional leak and not a fail.

It might of been intentional, but I can also see why it would would not of been.

From a scripting point of view, to test a script you would need an input, and an output to see if that script worked. The Input would be clicking the rest option, and the output would be temporarily that text displayed until the additional code was added. Think of it more as a placeholder until the addition code was pasted in at the last second.

But anyways, this update looks kinda interesting. With this though, Agility can certainly use a boost with some other aspects, such as Agility being useful in combat.

  7.

Take a look at the last time logged in. \'

Thats on one of my brothers accounts that hasn't played since about 2005. :P

!!!!! you've left your ip address in :wall: :wall:

4 year old IP, most likely not the same he has now

Except you can Recover an account with just an IP address and no Previous Passwords or Recovery Questions...

So, not only does that put his old account in Jeopardy, but any account(s) he currently has.

  8. Sure why not? I'm f2p right now. What evidence (specifically) would I need as proof for the Skull Sceptre one. I plan to smith my armor :P

I am allow to buy things from shops right? And pick up items that naturally spawn? Ex. Pick up bronze pick, kill a man and use coins for a hammer? What about buying a rune pick from its shop if I somehow get hold of 32k?

Well according to the rules you cant buy anything from a store that players can sell to, however you can buy stuff from stores using the store tab (items that the store stocks on its own).

So if a store sells rune pickaxes without players selling to it, then you can buy it from that store. Just like you can buy a hammer from a general store, since players do not supply those items. Basically anything on the store supply tab of stores is fair game  You just cant use the player supply tabs at stores.

  9. Though I have a sneaking suspicion we might have mahjaratt blood in our character.

After all we became immensely powerful near the stone of jas and after that encounter its mention of the stone "unlocking hidden potential within us"

That would be interesting, but unlikely this theory is true, as the CE refers that we are not one of them, so we cannot be sacrificed.

Ralvash was last, who is next? Me? You? No, we're not one of them

But being the True Protector or Guardian of the Stone of Jas is still a possibility.

  10. so, IF i didn't kill aviansies, it would cost around 700-800k an hour?

it sounds interesting however, i might try it.

Despite them being often crowded, I would recommend you kill Avians. But NOT with range.

Its a little unknown fact that Avians actually have a low magic defence (similar to the barrows brothers magic defence).

You can gain a fair amount of Magic Xp there, while gaining a fair sum of money from the bar drops. The bars and alchs are usually more than enough to pay for the runes/prayer pots used, if you use economical methods such as Air & Fire Wave, or slayer dart.

The only downfall is, being in mage robes, you either have to tank them or use prayer potions.

  11. just a thought, something i'm surprised no one mentioned with the chaos elemental, but "the white bird" could definitely refer to a swan, and piscatoris certainly qualifies as up north. a continuation of swan song a possibility at some point?

penguins is definitely coming soon though

I didn't really think about it before, but Penguins are also a bird, and partly white. Perhaps the CE post was referring to penguins all along and not a dove or swan?

Either way, I would look for a penguin quest coming pretty soon.

  12. I think it would be better to add something higher level on allotments that had usefulness, rather than just more xp.

For example, Watermelons are using for either super compost or Summer Pies.

Something in my eyes that would be an improvement would be a higher level allotment item, that can be used with the cooking skill to make a new food which heals 40 hp in 4 bites (10 HP each).

Or food that slightly raises one of your other levels, as mentioned with the attack level and carrots.

Something like that not only benefits one skill, but several, without upsetting the current food balance system. I think something like that would be much more beneficial to the skill than simply something that gives more XP at a higher level.

  13. All this being said...do you guys have faith in Jagex?

    - Of course, They might of been able to do some things differently, but they didn't do anything "wrong".

Do you think that things are going to go back to normal soon?

    - They are as normal as they always have been. It takes just as much time to make a mini game as it does to re-work a bunch of interfaces and creating new coding. The only difference is one is something you don't do very often, and one is something you use almost every day.

People often think a small update always requires a small time to develop/code. This is not often the case, as much more goes on behind the scenes you cant see.

The recent Path Finder update probably took just as much time to develop and code as it did making the entire Soul Wars Mini game.

Do you think we are going to get rushed with tons of giant updates all at one time?

    - I think they are going to progress, as they always have, and are currently going right now.

A better question would be, do you think they will keep making updates which are more upfront with content (minigames/skills/quests) or more behind the scenes with content (path-finder, quick buttons, user interface options)? And do you think the upfront is really superior to the behind the scenes content? I don't.

I have watched this game evolve from its earliest stages into a hugely successful game that has begun to be recognized among "real" mmorpg's. It is both disappointing and saddening to feel that this game isn't receiving as much love and attention that it once was (from the dev's).

    - I agree, but I think the lack of attention is because people see small updates, and assume they don't take much time to develop. This is not the case. They are working just as hard as they used to, just more on things you cant really see, opposed to things you can.

  14. what about those parents who probably have jobs in offices, sitting thier [wagon] all day but they complain about a game ? lol

This is very true. I have to sit down at my job in front of a computer almost double the time each week I play games at my home computer (Weekends included).

When people think gamer, they think out of shape, lazy, eating at the desk, and overweight. This is simply not the case for most individuals.

Saying "eating food" on a virtual game effects your eating habits, is like saying watching cartoons (like Loney Toons) dramatically increases violence because the cartoons hit each other on the head with big hammers.

  15. Given how only 35% of their staff is in development, I think they've done an excellent job of adding new content and updates to the game.

Ya, and given that 35% of their staff is TOTAL development for all 3+ games they have going, that is quite extraordinary they can produce updates at the frequency they do.

In all honesty, I'm sure they took many of the staff from Runescape, to develop Mechscape. Andrew said Mechscape was developed in Runescript, so its only logical they would take some employees from Runescape to work on Mechscape. They would not hire a completely new staff to work on it, which has never done Runescript coding before.

If they did hire new staff, I'm sure some of the employees would have to take the time to train the new staff. That also would take a considerable amount of time.

But in reality, People see a small update and assume it only takes a small time to code/develop. Some small updates could take more time to code/develop than a quest or minigame, simply because a quest/minigame uses pre-existing code, they just have to write it. Some small updates change the way the code works/runs and thus can be much more time consuming.

Either way, Jagex has done, and continues to do a great job, despite what anyone whines or crys about.

  16. That's very cool ::' Good things happen to good people, eh?

Keep up the good work with your goals. I'm also working my way to 99 construction, so I respect anybody with the cape. Is there any chance you could post your house lay-out, or give me pointers on mine?

Thank you, and best of luck

    Sure

    [hide=Dungeon Level]Floor0.png[/hide]

    [hide=Ground Level]Floor1.png[/hide]

    [hide=Upper Level]Floor2.png[/hide]

As for where I trained, I used my butler, and went down to the bottom level. On the left side of the stairs, I made Oak Dungeon Doors against the wall.

    See Picture as reference:

  17. Like it was said above, Bandos is more useful on Monsters, than against Players.

Barrows has higher melee defensive stats than Bandos by a considerable amount. However Bandos has 0 repair costs. This makes Bandos more useful to slayers who are conserving money because they engaged in combat for long periods of time, and don't really need the supped-up defensive bonuses of barrows.

    So basically:

If you are into monster training, you are better off with a Whip and Defender/DFS with Bandos.

If you are training your combat through Soul Wars, I would keep the BGS and wear barrows armor.

  18. 1. Do you think I can get a hilt drop with 80 range with say 2-4 other people

If you mean is it possible? Yes, but hilts are rare, and can take hundreds of kills to get one, if your lucky. Some people it takes 10 kills, and others 1000 kills to get a hilt. All luck of the draw.

    2. If so how many kills do you thing it would take

It's all based on luck as stated above. Because they are so rare, there really isn't an "average" for their drop rate.

    3. Should I get my def higher than 75

Yes. Since you are praying range, the main damage of the attacks will come from Arma's Mage attack. Your mage defense is a combination of your magic level, defensive level, and magic defensive armor. Having higher defense certainly will help and cant hurt.

    4. In one trip how much do you think I could make on avg.

That varies per trip, but most times you are going to come out equal, or just above your supplies cost. If you get a bad trip, you will lose money, and a good trip you will make money. Monster Hunting is very unpredictable in drops and thus unpredictable in money making. But don't come in expecting to make 200k-1m+ every trip. Odds are, that will not happen.

  19. Well, I think what people were trying to say is.. Making an argument saying "I'm bored and completed all I want to do, so I would like there to be more updates to what I personally want to keep me playing" is not a justifiable argument.

Like you said with your Zelda Example:

If you own a game like Legend of Zelda, you CAN go around killing stuff after you've beaten all the dungeons...but you probably won't want to because there isn't really a reason.

No game is meant to last forever, or completely satisfy you. Just like you would finish the Zelda game, you could move onto another game. Try switching to something else for awhile, take members off and take a break for a few weeks.

When you come back, you will be refreshed and find a fair amount of new content available to you. Enough to keep you interested for awhile at least. Sometimes you don't realize how much you miss something until its gone for awhile.

Switching to another game for awhile might simply be the best course of action. Not even another MMORPG, but something completely different.

  20. In regards to the 2 birds and a stone article:

The "potential" drop system, is by far one of the easiest ways to remove RWT from PK'ing, but I think there are to many factors which determine the "potential" which should not be there..

    1) Time in a PvP world should have no factor in your drops. In all honesty, time skilling/standing in an area should not have any effect on what you get PK'ing. They are two separate events and should not be linked. Killing players should effect your "potential", not standing around.

    2) The only Hotzone should be the wilderness. Period. If players want to be in a Hotzone, this puts more people in the wilderness adding more danger to this area, which it should be a risk and reward area. Adding Hotzones to areas like Falador and spawn areas simply dosen't make sense.

    3) The world is a big place. Not all of it needs to be PvP. Not just banks should be safe areas, but entire Cities. They designed people to PK across the entire world, but at the moment about 95% of the battles occur less than 10 steps away from a bank. Things need to be spread out.

    4) The drop system needs to change and BH needs to be incorporated into PvP worlds. Players get a target when they log into PvP worlds. The bounty hunter spell teleports them to their target. If you kill your target you get the full drop, otherwise you kill someone and get the PvP random generated drops. Its really a win-win for everyone which RWT can't abuse. This also spreads people out and provides REAL risk to the PvP worlds. Do you teleport to your opponent knowing you could be walking into a trap? Its a risk you would have to chose taking.

All in all, They need to simplify/change many of the "potential" rules. Make it so they are all geared towards combat, not other things which have no relation to killing someone.

  21. I would recommend you join a clan or group to go out and DO things. Get into a clan that has activities every day, and yes their are some that have more than one a day, every day.

If you play the game by yourself, it often gets cut and dry and people only play for updates, which sounds like your situation. My advice is to join a clan, or a community, go out in the game, and DO stuff with them. Half the enjoyment of playing Runescape is doing some activity with someone else.

When you start playing actively with groups, It becomes more about the people you are playing with, and not the content you are playing on. This makes old content in the game essentially "new" and "fun" every time.

My Advice? Don't play for the updates, get involved, and DON'T do things that are boring to you. If grinding skills is boring, stand around G.E. and talk with people for hours. If Runescape is boring to you, don't play it so often. Take a break and play Runescape maybe 1-2 hours a day, and play some other games. So many people expect everyone to be skilling at the most efficiency raising levels or GP. Runescape is much much more than Skills, Updates, or GP, if you let it be.
