No cannon, pc or chins, this was all good ol' fashioned ogres at Lathas training camp. Started at 71 and pretty much stayed on it til I finished.

I was just thinking about that. Maybe they just changed the xp the bolts are giving?

Actually, that's what I thought too. That's why I didn't notice for so long. It looked like I was hitting exactly the same, high numbers often. But when I looked at the xp, I was wrong.

Well, as far as I can tell, bone bolts have been changed. Going for 99 range (97 now), I have been averaging about 43-45k per hour with bone bolts at Lathas ogres. But tonight, I noticed something was wrong. I had been ranging for about 4 hours and noticed I had only gained 80k experience. I sat there and tried to figure out what happened. I knew what time I had started, and I had the world relatively to myself the entire time. The fact was I was averaging about 20k xp per hour. I sent a message to my friend who is 96 ranged, and told her what had happened. She timed her xp out after I told her and she said she was now only getting about 20k xp per hour as well, and she hadn't noticed until just then. We were both pretty shocked, considering they were just getting us over 43k an hour last night. I tried out some bronze arrows and got about 38k xp in an hour with them, which is about right. So I know it wasn't just me and her. I asked a few people around on different worlds to take a look at the xp they were getting, and they all said the same thing: it was now significantly less. I don't think I'm wrong, but has anyone else noticed this? As far as I know it just happened today, so maybe there aren't many who know about it yet. It makes sense though. Bone bolts were way cheap and way strong, and I figured it was only a matter of time before they were changed. I'm just glad I got as far as I did before it happened. I'm now using bronze knives to finish out 99, which are actually quicker anyway. Thoughts?

I have a perfect understanding of how the game works. I never said they weren't allowed to use them, I said I am ANNOYED by them. To be honest it isn't much of a rant unless you can take the other point of view and at least respect other people's opinions. No one was saying you weren't entitled to get mad, you just seem sore that nobody is taking your side. I don't think there's a topic on this, but one thing I noticed while cutting mage logs the other day is that when they updated the look of magic logs, they didn't update the look of the magic tree stumps. The inside of the logs you cut are the blue color, and when the tree is cut down the inside of the stump is still normal tan/brown. Unless I'm mistaken, the inside of a log cut from a tree should be the same color as the inside of the trunk : Not a huge deal, but a small inconsistency that I noticed.

So I'm guessing you're like 40? good guess, 38yo. military professional who enjoys a quiet game at night after the kids are in bed. By the way, just to educate you, national study conducted in USA in 2005 showed average gamer is 30, not 12. ...and 40% are women. also my wife plays (teacher). she also enjoys a bit of RS at night. My entire friends list is 123+, all adults and I belong to 3 all adult clans....so wake up and realize that while most of the nubz playing may be 12 yos who havent gone outside except to clamber aboard the school bus, and play RS, adults have the time, and desire to play it, and many many do. Wow guys, wow. This is a rant. This is for blowing off steam. I was mad at the time. Seriously get off your high horses, I'm so sick of that attitude around here. I'm entitled to get mad at someone if I want to. You would think a rant forum would be a place where someone can vent frustration without being attacked by everyone reading it. I told you guys that I hop worlds when I need to, and obviously I'm not under the impression that it's my training ground or my experience they're stealing. I guarantee that every one of you has been mad at something in this game at one time or another. I should have known this was going to happen though. As far as I know, you need to do the quests to be able to get into Canifis to use the house portal to it. Someone tried that in my house and that's what it told them. Grats on the level :D

I see what you're trying to say Reb, but the thing is that each hit ogre is already damaged, meaning when I kill it, I'm getting less xp. just gotta vent man, haha. I was super annoyed at the time.

hmm, well I've only been playing since january of 2002 so I didn't know that. I change worlds all the time. That's why when I get a good one, it's annoying to get it disrupted, thus my rant.

Your argument makes no sense. I'm getting ogres at a slower rate with a cannon user than without one. I don't want ogres that are damaged, I want whole ogres for the xp. And with someone using a cannon and ranging on their own, they get the majority of them. Plus, when someone is shooting ogres with a cannon, I can't even attack them. There are worse things, and I know that... but right now I'm ranging, and this is what is annoying me.

Ok, so I've been ranging at the Lathas ogres since saturday (going for 99 range), and every once in a while someone sets up a freaking cannon and totally freezes out everyone else, stealing all the xp. And during the day, it's hard enough to find a non-packed world. So when someone comes and sets a cannon up, it's so annoying. I had a world all to myself once and this guy logs in and goes "sorry man" and sets up his stupid [wagon] cannon. Ugh. This has happened more than a few times. I hate when people do this, it's so inconsiderate of other people. This one jerk today even goes "thers nuthin u can do about it lol." Pff, idiot. Ugh, anyway, had to let that out. Makes me want to find where they live and smash their faces in with a hammer. :evil:

I don't mind when I'm asked to show my emotes : It only takes a few seconds anyway. One of my closest friends in game is getting 99 fletching soon, and it will be trimming his woodcutting cape. Seeing how hard he has worked for it has actually made me appreciate the fletching cape a little more. It's not a bad looking cape, but there are just so many of them people see it as less of an achievement these days.

I think this is a potentially fun update. I imagine the hood will look something like the ring wraiths' hoods from lord of the rings

It seems like the subject of skill capes is always going to be a gray area as far as this debate is concerned. There are so many reasons why a person gets a 99 in a skill, and how other people view them is all based on their perspective... of which there are millions. I got 99 woodcutting because since RS classic, it has been my favorite skill. I enjoy it a lot, and it was just a coincidence that I love the way the cape looks. I think anyone who has a 99 should get props for the time they spent doing one thing, because it's very easy to get discouraged and quit a 99 goal, no matter what their motives are. But even I have to admit to being guilty of looking at fletching and cooking skill capes in a different way than others. Usually when I see someone with one cape they have the other, and I always think to myself "ah, of course." And personally, I don't ever even want to own a cooking or fletching cape, and I don't really enjoy either skill. That said, I would never berate another player or talk down to them for having one of those capes. They did their work, and just because it isn't one of the "coolest" capes doesn't mean they aren't proud of having it. And if they want to show off a little, I think that's ok. It's only natural. Personally I don't think this topic is even really worth debating anymore. It seems like whenever one of these pops up, it's 10 pages of people being split down the middle and the same things keep being said. More and more people are playing this game every day, so of course more and more 99s are being achieved. We just gotta go with the flow 8-) that's my two cents

Nobody said that getting a 99 in firemaking, cooking, or fletching is "easy." What others said, and what I said was that it is a lot easier than getting a 99 in something like runecrafting or slayer. To be more precise, I included the firemaking cape among the "easiest" quest capes to get. None of them is "easy" (like killing a goblin), but compared to one of the harder capes, those capes are relatively "easy." Does that help clear things up? yeah I see what you mean, I just don't like it being lumped in with cooking or fletching haha :D no hard feelings, I just think firemaking kind of gets overlooked as a tedious skill because it's easily buyable and doesn't take a whole lot of time if you have the patience.

You never will see that. As I said before, I don't enjoy grinding. (Really, who does?) Moreover, I'm not willing to grind just to get a cape (altough many do). Even if I were willing to do that, I would not pretend to "enjoy" burning 100k logs so that I could garner some "respect" for my "accomplishment." I did it because I really do enjoy firemaking. It's not easy though, so don't say it is when you won't even do it

That's quite a lucky coincidence for you that you just happen to love the four skills that are easiest to get a cape in. I would love to see you burn 100k+ logs to get 99 fm

I have the cash for 6-700k bronze knives. From lvl 71, will that be enough for 99? I won't be picking them up by the way.
