  1. House tele and use your altar there.

If you want to get back on the fairy ring network then use a slayer ring charge and go to Relleka and the ring is 10 steps west.

    Slayer ring charges are free.

  2. Look at the maths:

    Yew Seed = 89k

    Cactus Spine = 4.3k

    So 4.3k * 10 = 43k per tree.

    43k * 10 yew trees = 430k in cactus spines.

Only one of those 10 yew trees is going to die, so you waste 342k in protecting them for the sake of 7k XP.

Infact, you can afford for 4 out of the 10 to die before you actually lose anything monetary.

Sure it means you have to get the XP at another time, but farming isn't the sort of skill you can power train anyway so what's an extra week if you are getting 99?

  3. I've heard people recommend using Guthan's set while doing slayer (if appropriate), because of the lifestealing bonus it gives, which means fewer trips to the bank for food and more time slaying. My current gear includes use of a slayer helm, rune defender, whip, and torag's body/legs (since it has slightly higher defence, if I recall).

I don't think I should trade the whip or black mask's huge power bonuses for some life drain, but that's why I'm asking you guys. Any idea?

Just use Guthans and swap in the helm/spear when you need the heal.

Even with a Bunyip bring em along. Sometimes tasks last longer than the Bunyip and it isn't worth summoning a second for 30 kills.

Helm - You should always use a slayer helm or black mask.

    Neck - Fury or glory

Weapon - Whip or Saradomin Sword as standard. Leaf blade sword is handy for Turoth/Kursaks and also dragons (weak to stab). Saradomin Sword or Zammy Spear for Waterfiends.

Body - Guthans/Karils/Prostelyte dependant on monster. Those which attack with mage or mage based melee require Karils. If you are praying then Prostelyte

Shield - Rune Defender as standard. Dragons require an anti-drag shield. Don't waste cash on a DFS. Scarabites are easier with a Mind Shield from Elemental Workshop 2 quest.

    Legs - Same as body

Gloves - Barrows gloves or best ones you can use.

Ring - Warrior ring if you have your whip out (increases slash attack) Berserker isn't worth the price tag. If you can stomach Mobilising Armies then you can enchant them.

Boots - Dragon or Bandos. As a rule dragon as standard and Bandos if you are praying.

Guthans helm and spear are a good healer as are Bunyips. Unicorns make a few tasks a little easier but are honestly not essential for slayer. Bones to peaches tabs if you can't be bothered to unlock yourself.

Always use a super attack and strength pot. If you get hit lots then a super def too. If you are praying then swap the super attack for a zammy brew. Zammy brews raise your attack and prayer at the expense of defence and hitpoints, both not important if you are praying. The boost to attack is 5% higher than the super attack.

Slayer rings make life easier too. Mainly getting tasks at lower levels if you can't survive on lunars. Karamaja gloves 3 are invaluable to high level slayers.

Summoning wise the fighters only really get good from the titans at 79. Learn when to use a healer and when to use a fighter. For example dust devils in the Chaos Tunnels can be owed with a fighter as you heal from the bones, yet I still see people there with a Bunyip. Attack an enemy to under 50% health then go to the next one leaving your familiar to finish it off. This way you get the loot if someone else attacks it. Carry on like that and you can commander the rooms.

A cannon speeds up Kalphites/Bloodveld/Daganoth and Scarabites. Also Abby Spectres but I suggest not using it there as collecting loot is a pain. It is an expense though, and therefore only really an option for the rich or the high level slayer who can make the cost back.

Slayer is a great money maker. You just need to remember it isn't a fixed profit. Somedays you will lose out in supply cost yet others you will make 3 mil.

  4. The whip is the main weapon of choice. Trains both attack and defence and you can use a shield with it. I recommend a rune defender.

The Saradomin Sword is the best weapon for training strength but you lose the shield slot. No biggie really. The alternative is the dragon scimmy, but after you've used the SS you won't go back.

Godswords can train all skills, but are slower than the above. Although they appear faster over time the whip/defender will win. The SS also just edges the Godsword overtime but nowhere near as much as the whip/def.

  5. Is fighter torso worth it?

I am 70 defence and are thinking about getting fighter torso but is it worth the effort and time to get it?

or should i just use torags plate or save up for bandos plate?

    Please help me decide

No it isn't worth it. Get a barrows plate. Torags is fine.

Barbarian Assault is a good minigame though, just the torso is lacking.

  6. Willow seeds are so inexpensive that it isn't a big deal if one dies anyway. You can just supercompost and let 10% of them die.

That certainly is an opinion that I don't share. I don't let anything die.

Dunno if it's true for everything but certainly with yews you are better off not paying. Someone did all the maths and the 1 in 10 loss of a seed was less than the 10 x farmer payments.

perhaps because the payment is used a a high potion second, but since I harvest my own cactus spines, I use them every time. I would never purchase a payment, but I'm not letting a tree die, either.

Think of how much you would get selling those 10 x spines. Far more than the cost of 1 yew seed.

  7. I think the DFS sucks personally.

    you sir, wrong.

    --

but anyways if you want a good thing that cost alot and isn't armor, i would suggest on saving cash for sgs - awsome if you do slayer, and good in alot of other places also ::'

He is right. The DFS has minimal uses, uses which don't justify it's price. The rune defender is where it's at.

Bursting is far far too expensive. Slayer will get you charms, albeit slower. If you really want to get charms outside slayer then waterfiends are a good option and you profit.

Use the cash for skilling, plenty of skills can be bought.

  9. No idea if this a regular thing or not.

Basically when on Dark Beasts I use about 3-4 war tortoises holding my pots, then used to store loot.

2 tortoises went, so I summoned the third. I was semi-afking them, flicking between windows and I got a herb so I went to put it in my tortoise. He'd gone! Now it was only about 20-25 minutes into his lifespan, no messages in the chatbox to say he was about to die, no items dropped on the ground. Just vanished.

This happened to anyone else? Lost about 5 prayer pot(4) a zammy brew (4) and super strength (4). My loot was a loop half, about 4 irits, an avantoe a dwarf weed and 2 sharks so it isn't major. Just if it happens a lot I will think twice about sticking more expensive items in them.

  10. Ever since this weeks update I have issue with lag for no apparent reason.

It's the sort of lag where when you click it takes 2 seconds to do it and sometimes does connection lost. This is apparently something to do with my computer talking to server. I have tried my usual 2 servers (Belgium and Netherlands), a local server (UK) and whatever Jagex decided to put me on and all of them have the same issue.

My computer has 3.6mb broadband confirmed with my router and speed checks online and I can watch BBCi player or Channel 4 on demand with no issues whatsoever. All websites load up a dream including those with Java. My system idle process is 57-65 or the CPU but I'm still lagging.

The other oddity is it isn't all the time, this morning was OK but this afternoon has been hell. Yesterday I had issues in the morning but it seemed OK in the evening. I would assume the issue was with the route to Jagex server but no one else seems to be having an issue which debunks that theory.

Anyone experienced anything like this before? If so can anyone suggest a fix?

  11. Quest itself is easy. No more than 20 mins work.

Collecting the 2nd wishlist take a lot longer.

The boss is easy enough, easier than Bork. Protect mage and bring melee armour. As soon as the bits fly off him run after them, grab and bury. Once all 3 parts are buried then he is easy as pie, especially if you can hold your own against mithril dragons which you'd have have to have done to get that far.

Let's just hope the weekly reward is substantial.

  12. Well wolpertingers use magic, and the fire titan seems to hit the best out of the 3 elemental ones.. so id go with wolpertinger

However, I have never used either of these

The attack type doesn't bother me as I need both range and magic XP. I get on fine with Geysers (not fires as you've said) but I know more enemies are weak to magic.

Is that Gene Hunt in your avatar?

Yes it is, 80's version

Anyways just hit 92 so will see what the wolpertinger has to offer.

  13. The slayer update just re-enforces what I've been saying for years:

SLAYER DROPS SHOULD ONLY DROP ON TASK

The major flaw in the current system is that every man and his dog camp at the "good" monsters leaving the hardcore slayers frustrated when they get a task. Not only would having the good stuff drop on task only raise the price of the items but also it gives people an incentive to train slayer, and means I can kill Abby Demons on task without having to wait around until a non-peak time.

    No.

i wouldnt mind that idea, i dont kill anything off task

I like camping and i don't see how that update helps. I mean its already annoying to kill 100 so monsters and then talk to some dude to be told what to kill again.

    1. Slayer drops are rewards for training slayer. It makes sense to only get the item when earning slayer XP.

    2. New players get left behind. When I started playing whips were 3.5mil. When I got 85 slayer, they were 1.3mil. Mostly due to people camping there.

    3. Good monsters are crowded. Abby Demons are usually rammed, soley with people hunting for whips. All of them know there is better XP elsewhere but still camp at demons. A slayer comes along who has just sat through 49 iron dragons and has to fight to get a spot on a skill they are training via the proper method. Gargolyes for example used to be a nice task save the annoying animation, since PKing returned and the granite maul rose slayers struggled to get a spot through the campers. Dropping only on task reduces the number of campers.

    4. There are already non-slayer drop monsters you can camp at for reward. Armoured Zombies being the major one, and you're not affecting the slayers.

The argument of "I got that level I should be able to get the reward whenever I like" is a load of rubbish. I have the herblore level for Sara Brews but I don't expect to make one without training herblore. Likewise why expect a whip, which is a slayer drop, if you are not training slayer?

I feel sorry for anyone who is training slayer and gets the new creature. They stand no hope in hell of finishing there task in reasonable time so are penalised by either skipping/blocking or wasting time.

  15. I want 99 summoning and 99 mage on route would be nice.

Obviously rock lobsters are the way to go, I do need some figures though.

I'm 91 mage so will use the lower ice one. Is it worth swapping at 94?

How much XP is it per hour?

What is the cost per hour?

How many crimson charms per hour?

I will be honest and say I don't have a lot of money. 15mil currently but do not have a god sword. My plan is to make the cash for a BGS with 5mil spare and then join a BGWD team for cash. Shouldn't be an issue with maxed melee. Roughly how much do you make at BGWD with a 4-5 man team?
