  1. It sounds like just a price manipulation.

I'd attribute it to some merchants buying out items that are pretty rare and then just keeping them til the prices go up again.

Stupid free trade - you can't tell what prices are real or fake anymore :(

That wouldn't make sense. You don't have to wait for the prices to go up anymore, you just put them up for sale at the price you want to sell them at. The GE suggested price may be off, but there aren't any fake prices anymore.

  2. World 84 must have crashed today, because when I logged in to do a little mining there were only about a hundred people there. It was fantastic because there were enough people to keep the rock creatures away, but not too many so that there was terrible lag.

Does anyone know if there are other lesser known mining worlds that are less populated, or any clans that use another world?

  3. I got 99 at Herblore Habitat about two weeks ago, and it was fantastic.

You've also got to think that if you ever want to use the potions then it will be much better to get them while you can still use the XP, rather than hunting for them once you already have 99.

  4. Maybe its because people don't use the brews?

Imo a super attack + super str is better, because hurting your def and hp is nasty, plus super restore only restores your def.

Sara Brew + Super Restore works nicely. Zammy Brew + Super Restore doesn't.

It works out pretty nice. They keep my HP down to just about nothing, and also replace the prayer pots. Using them with Dharok's I can generally kill black dragons quicker than my summoning spec bar can recover on my yak.

    edit..

Thinking back, I used to do this prior to extremes, so back then it was a better deal than it is now.

  5. I used to love killing steel/black dragons with Dharok's and zammy brews, but since the herblore update torstol has been super expensive, so I assumed that zammy brews would either be unbuyable or unaffordable.

I just happened to be browsing through the GE today, and was shocked to find out that zammy brews are crashing really hard. Right now they were listed at 1.8K, but I managed to buy a bunch for half that price.

My question is why? Who would use a 35K herb to make a 1k potion? Does some monster drop a ton of them?

  6. The problem is that if you only use supercompost the trees can still die.

Also, I really don't want to get into making my own compost. I actually have several thousand Pungent vines left over from jadinko hunting if I ever felt the desire. It's just too much of a hassle trying to juggle my inventory around, so I'd rather just buy them.

  7. I've always supercomposed my pineapple trees, but I just noticed that it costs about half as much to just pay the farmer to protect them. Since compost doesn't affect the harvest yield on trees (like it does on herbs) is there any reason to compost them at all anymore?

I know that the supercompost can actually prevent disease, instead of curing it like the farmers do, so it has the potential to save time. I only do one tree run a day though, so I don't think that should be an issue.

  8. OK. I'd like to rephrase the OP's post a little. Instead of asking, "Is RuneScape Dying?" how about asking "Is RuneScape sustainable?".

I'll admit that RS has gotten really popular in the past few days, but that doesn't mean that RuneScape (by it's very design) isn't on the path to eventual death.

    - When you start out as a new player there is a huge mountain of skills/tasks/quests that you must attempt to climb, and with every update that mountain gets higher. Is there a point at which a new player will simply get too discouraged at what is in front of him and simply decide not to try?

    - Moneymaking at high levels has gotten quite easy lately, but still remains pretty difficult for newer players. Will competition with level 130s who have 500M+ in the bank be enough to make the game unplayable for for them?

    - Is the entirety of RuneScape just getting too complex? Training methods are constantly revised. The map is constantly being expanded. When will there just be to much information to process and create a barrier to entry for a new player?

Here is a little example from real life. I am a horrible ice skater. My attempts at skating usually involve me stumbling slowly around the rim of the rink holding on to the wall, attempting not to fall down. Meanwhile, all around me there are people racing, spinning, and jumping backwards. Most of them learned when they were little kids and have a huge advantage over me. At my point in life, learning to skate has just become prohibitively inconvenient and there is no way for me to "compete" with those around me.

In a similar way, everyone who is a high level today became so when RuneScape was (figuratively) a child. But RuneScape is growing older, and people starting today are at a huge disadvantage. I guess that the real question is whether that disadvantage will ever become so big that nobody will want to even start playing anymore.

  9. Pretty simple question. I've just started protecting my Herblore Habitat herb patches with kalferberries, and I'm wondering if it protects both patches.

So far for me they've always both lived, but I haven't been doing it all that long and it might just be a coincidence.

In case anyone is curious, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't protect both patches. When I do an examine of the western patch it specifically states that a farmer is looking after it for me. When I do an examine of the eastern patch, it doesn't.

  10. Cutting Ivy with woodcutting brawler gloves

I would imagine that he is actually interested in the highest sustainable woodcutting XP. Keep in mind that woodcutting brawler gloves don't just fall out of the sky. Factoring in the time it takes to get them, and other factors involved in using them, I doubt that they would actually speed up your woodcutting XP.

  11. I'm sure they've been trying to find a way to bring back it back since 2007 when it was first removed, much like Player Owned Houses there is a long path from inception, getting the systems to work, and actually implementing them.

I'm not saying they knew it would happen from the beginning, I'm just making the observation that they've probably been trying to reverse it ever since implementation.

I'm not sure that they wanted to bring it back since the beginning. Once they made the decision to remove it they seemed pretty committed.

But, it is obvious that they did plan on restoring it well before the "poll" ever got released.

  12. And from that day on I vowed to always have supplied ready to make 10 or more p pots and I lived happily ever after...

I'm not criticizing you for this, but I'm trying to understand your thinking. How does having the ingredients for 10 prayer pots "ready to make" benefit you over just having the actual prayer pots in your bank? Kinda seems like a little bit of mental gymnastics to think that the unmade pots are a special reserve.

  13. Just wondering if anyone has an idea what the XP rates should be at Dracoinic jadinkos. I've heard 250K/hr, but I'm lucky if I'm getting half that.

I've got 94 Hunter, wearing the full witchdoctor outfit, using scentless potions, and have an arctic bear summoned. I'm laying my traps in the south-eastern part of the northern section of the habitat. I've also tried warding off the common jadinkos, but that actually seems to cut my XP rate.

Is the 250k/hr rate really unrealistic, or am I just doing something wrong?

  14. OK, so the Azdaran Fragment (which I'm assuming is just a fragment of a larger text) says: "No band of petty councilors can preserve this city through its darkest days only a king."

Anyone else think that the complete test reads something like "It's painfully obvious that only an albino band of petty councilors can preserve this city through its darkest days only a king of fools would dare to disagree".
