The new design seems a lot more cleaner, in my opinion. Though I feel like it lost a lot of the cool parts of the old one. Then brown just doesn't appeal to me. Neither does all the open space to the right... hahaha Looks nice right now though. Didn't know if you wanted c/c or not, so there we go.

I hate people that just make up all these acronyms and stuff... I had read this topic from end to end and have understood 75%(AT BEST) of the complaints... Can't we just type it out? or is it going to kill you?

[hide=Quote Wall] Learn to use the word arrogant? 1: exaggerating or disposed to exaggerate one's own worth or importance often by an overbearing manner <an arrogant official> 2: showing an offensive attitude of superiority : proceeding from or characterized by arrogance <an arrogant reply> Neither of those applies to my comment.... I have, thanks. Either of those definitions conveys exactly what I intended to express, and your response embodies them. You've apparently assumed that you not only have a firmer grasp on the language than I do, but a better idea of what I meant to say as well. While they may not fit what you wrote, they do fit what I read; my apologies if I've offended you. Frankly, I read "giving them a direction to go" as dictating style to artists who are obviously incapable of developing without your hand-holding. I do realize after some consideration that you likely did not mean to evoke such imagery. Nothing about my comment was personally-directed, nor was any of it deliberately offensive. Rather, it was to draw attention to the subjectivity of art as self-expression and highlight that one must have an understanding of what the artist meant to do before understanding, let alone criticizing to any constructive end, objectively how they failed to do that. Having the end result come closer to what was intended is improvement, and criticism which is useful to that end should be well-received. Any suggestions whose implementation would serve only to align the artist's work with the critic's stylistic preferences are better distinguished from objective truths. One can objectively note that a figure's anatomy is off without claiming as fact (or even believing) that the work would be better with anatomically-correct figures. Of course I can, and I hadn't meant to say that all criticism is a display of arrogance; rather that "giving them a direction to go" seems to imply that the critic is in a position to have some better idea than the artist how the artist should bring his own ideas to life. Having reviewed several threads, it seems a small few posts left an exaggerated bad impression. Here's one: [hide] It is posts like this I despise. Not only is it barely true, but it isn't telling anyone how to improve. i like his work, so what... and btw I don't know what to tell him to improve on because I'm not experienced in graphics... GodTrickstar seems to say something like "Hey, this is nice. Don't change a thing!" and that is met with, in essence, "your post and its ilk are a blight on this board. Your opinion is wrong, and you haven't said how this could be better." [/hide] [/hide] Please get off the subject of c/c. All you are about to do is start a flame war. The first step of this isn't the rules and shouldn't be discussed yet. We need good tutorials and all the ones in the resource thread organized.

If you tell us the program you use we can help you better. It is a nice try at flow. And with the above, this one seems odd, it looks more like a smudged stock kinda thing, if you know what I mean. Also, general rule of thumb, unless it is a request or the text HAS to be there... just don't do it. Most of the time it brings the artwork down, even if the text looks good. Thanks for the help

All good idea's guys, but the first steps aren't to set up contests... there is no one to join them. So be gathering resources. @Nadril, most of your critiques are to the point, which is what they people that have been doing it for a while want to hear. You do get a lot of crap XD

How very arrogant it seems to presume to be in a better position to decide what the artist should do than the artist himself. Learn to use the word arrogant? 1: exaggerating or disposed to exaggerate one's own worth or importance often by an overbearing manner <an arrogant official> 2: showing an offensive attitude of superiority : proceeding from or characterized by arrogance <an arrogant reply> Neither of those applies to my comment.... @Hawk, I agree. I will accuse myself of not liking mini's and stuff, but truly it should be allowed. Everyone is good at something and have to start with something before they get good. @AllTheCommentsAboutC/C I agree with you now. Okay, positive comments more than spam(as stated above) is fine, but it would still be nice if you could give something that you would like. On the other hand... comments like "No sir, I don't like it." that was posted on one of my threads... that shouldn't be allowed. If you don't like it, there is something specific you don't like. @Myu, good resources.

Yes, but the point of the gallery is to get better at art, not just have someone say oh thats cool. C/C doesn't mean find something you dont like. it can be something you really think they did well with. It is just giving them a direction to go.

Hello, I have been talking with Sam and Tripsis(and Shiny sort of) about getting the Gallery back in action. Do you want to have more people here? More people learning how to do graphics? More C/c on your topics and more for you to post? Contests like POTM, SOTW, and more again? Maybe even prizes from Tip.it for winning the bigger contests? Well help with this topic. The game plan on getting the Gallery back on track is as follows: 1. Update the resources with detailed guides and tutorials for ANY program you use for graphics. GIMP, PDN, PS, Inkscape, Illustrator... ANYTHING. The guides need to range from absolute beginner to some higher level ones. These can be made by you or links to websites with them. 2. Make a "Gallery Etiquette and Rules" topic outlying basically what the core values of the community is. ex: All ways post a c/c with your post not just "Well Done". 3. Tripsis will make a Global announcement basically telling people about the Gallery and that anyone that is interest in art can learn from the people in the Gallery and that never to get discouraged by a bad design and just stuff like that. 4. When we see a decent amount of people joining the Gallery again, we will be restarting the contest like "Picture of the Month", "Sig of the Week", a photo contest, and a LP contest.(Which ones to start will be based on a poll/suggestions) 5. Keep it moving So just post below with what you have, any suggestions on other things to have and such. Lets bring this back, Pat

Wilderness and Free Trade Interview!!! - Answers On First Post!
Will general stores and other stores show all players' items? Will the Grand Exchange suggested prices move with item sales and player advertised prices, or will it stay static? Will Revenants and Hellhounds be removed from the game and/or F2P? If so, do you plan on adding a boss monster to F2P of any kind to give a challenge to F2P again? Isn't this "update" just basically "recopying" the code over to the game files? Is there a particular reason you decided to bring this back, such as loss of players, fixing a RWTers etc? Has your way of solving the problems been buying out any URL that can remotely connect Runescape and RWT? What will happen to corrupt items? Did you ever feel as though the fixed prices "ruined" the economy like so many players believed it did? Do you plan on fixing hit-points/constitution to compensate for the increased power of weaponry over the last 2-3 years? Will you be doing something to correct summoning into the old PvP? How long have you been thinking about the update?

Picture of the Month - April, May, June, July
Haha I will probably PM you or something when I feel we are ready for an announcement. I am planning on waiting for shiny and sam to reply and then I will post a topic asking for people to find a nice set of tutorials for new people. Quite obviously we need to train some new people(and when you make the announcement you might want to talk about not taking anything personal and just some general gallery etiquette and we can have a full revamped topic here.) Haha I am really interested in seeing a booming reform here. I miss the olden days and we need more people to get that way.

Is there any way you could rub your admin magic to get us some prizes for some other contests and maybe an announcement? Assuming I talk to sam and shiny first and get us some tutorials up for new people.

Is there any chance of getting this going again? And more competitions? I am interested in heading up a variety of competitions to see interest in the different types. Maybe we can use the competitions to entice new members to the gallery by having the TIF Staff give some prize for this and smaller prizes for the other contests? Just an idea to get the Gallery Booming again...

How do players know how much an item is worth?
How do you know what an item is worth in real life? People decided the price that they think it is worth and will barter a little. Its also a matter of supply and demand vs contental(yes I made up a word) value. If rune ore was everywhere like iron, its price would be in a similar state to iron, though still staying high due to the high levels needed and would be ~1k-5k I would assume. Its also a mind game and how people buy stuff off each other. If you are selling an item people need right then and there you can get a lot more money than if they just want it. That's why World 1 was always tedious for the buyers and sellers. Most were smart enough to wait around to see if their are lower prices. Which brings us to competition of sellers. When players would enter the alter(quite sad that they moved it IMO) they would look to see who was giving the most money/runes back with ess. The smart players that saw who they traded with gained a loyalty to them and then other crafters would have to raise the reward to get a lot of people to come to them. Can't wait for good ole free trade and for some prices to fix themselves.

My Photoshop work
It is posts like this I despise. Not only is it barely true, but it isn't telling anyone how to improve. Oh god, the hypocrisy.. First one is actually really nice, though I think it could do without the big diagonal stripes overlaying the whole piece. If you removed them, and made the text more appealing, it would be improved loads. general tips- don't increase the exposure on some of these; you'll lose detail and it'll look a bit shabby. The girls in 2 and 5 are too bright. ^^ Also, if i were you i'd stay away from fractal brushes (or at least until you are really confident in PS). They make things very messy and are rather hard to implement. Its not hypocrisy if he already posted his c/c.

Ah good point, now you've pointed it out it's really obvious. I'm thinking I'll maybe try again now my slave flash has arrived! I'll see how it is with no paper, cos I prefer the colour at the front more than that at the back. Oh by PAINT PL0X? I meant mspaint example... XD but sure

Ok thanks guys ^^ yeah, I picked the quote because it mirrored I thought it would be good for a typography. I will do another mock up with more detail later today. I tried to covey the words like LIFETIME by spreading the letters to show length and then the next one being smaller in comparison to its part. I tried to increase the size of more important words in the quote. Sorry if this seems random, I am writing quickly as my mom wants the computer XD EDIT: New mock up Currently looking for words. How do you change the physical background color in inkscape?

Woah man. Thanks for that descriptive post on what to do better. I knew the gallery still had some quality people to help you with c/c. Your up there with the greats like Nadril and Demented Hero(and maybe even Shiny and Littleboy(Sam)). I just hope I can give c/c that is that good while I am back here in the gallery. Thanks man, you are a life saver. [/sarcasm]
