Runescape is an essential part of many people around the world, so the UK government would give financial support if things would go wrong, at any cost. ;) But serious, i don't think Runescape will be hit harder by this economic situation than other companies. They get their money from members all over the world, not from other companies, a big advantage, and the online games sector is still a market of growth. Jagex should be concentrating on creating a 'good' game, rather than worrying about the current situation. Perhaps they have to be a little more careful with investments, keep enough cash in their business, but other than that i don't see any huge dangers.

About the second article written by turtlefemm: It is very sad to see one of the most enjoyable parts of RuneScape disappear. It is in my opinion necessary to prevent RuneScape's total breakdown. "Soloscape" that's what really struck me. It is an attitude that many people have in this and other games. It may look like JaGex is accepting (or even promoting) this way of playing, but in fact they do just the opposite. With the new updates the ability to buy RuneScape goldpieces from websites is banned. Peope who previously bought goldpieces will be 'forced' to develop a different gaming style or leave RuneScape. This can only have positive effects on the community. You should also not overlook recently introduced 'assist system'. By the way, we still have the party hall in Falador, wich will allow you to give everyone a fair chance. :P ~Zellaz

Yes, i think we all would like improved graphics. The point is that remaking most of the game would cost a lot. Jagex would have to get the funds somewhere, that means us, players. Raising prices for membership from $5 to -lets say- $8 a month would be sufficient. There is however a problem. RuneScape is mainly a game for kids\young teenages. Not every kid is able to pay $8, or at least the parents will think it's not worth spending that money to a game. This might not stop current young members of RuneScape, but it could decrease the amount of new members joining RuneScape heavily. Not to mention RuneScape position on the Mmorpg-market. My best guess is that Jagex will wait a while untill they reach the limits of possibilities of the current game(RS2) and have enough member subscriptions (let's say 2,5m). ~Zellaz
