  1. it's as 'fast' as it always was, providing you do not take into account the time spent acquiring herbs. The GE makes that stage a lot faster.

I have to admit that the grand exchange has enticed me into buying more than a few hundred grimy irits, kwarms and rannars. Also Limpwurt seeds (I get about 24 per each hundred kwarms I buy, which takes some of the loss off).

  2. Pros:

    Insanely fast buying

Able to offload all the random things I've had for ages but couldn't be bothered to stand around selling (such as TT rewards, slayer drops, etc)

Very easy to buy in bulk at the exact amounts you need.

    Cons:

Prices seem to be dropping rapidly as everyone sells at the lowest price in order to get the quickest deal.

The ease of buying is making me buy things I normally wouldn't, such as raw materials I don't particularly need (pure ess) and a dragon axe.

  3. If this scenario is likely (which I am reserving judgement on), then it's possible that it has already happened, with the deul arena updates in response.

Basically, someone already sued Jagex, and Jagex agreed to change the duel arena as part of the settlement deal. It would explain the rush job on the tournaments, as it would give the changes a veil of legitimacy.

However, whether this actually happened or not... I do not know.

  4. Am I just missing it or is there no way to just browse what is being offered for sale without putting in a buy offer?

I'm not sure, but I think you can just search and look at the market price for items without putting in a offer, but you can't specifically see if an item is available at that price.

I think the whole idea is that you have no idea who you're buying from.

  5. The amount of code involved in trading in general (let alone the code that Jagex uses to detect scams and RWTs) is huge, there's no way they'd delete what would have to be at last 1 years worth of man-hours work.

And if I see one more thread about trading disappearing from RS I'm not going to come back to tip.it for a very long time. I thought this was supposed to be a decent forum, not one populated by scare mongers.

  6. I have been in the Duel Arena a grand total of ONE time, just to try it out. I fought around 5 matches (I think) and I bet at least 5k each time. So even a complete novice staker has staked more than Jagex's limit.

That said, watching the Official Forums actually explode is hilarious! Even better than when people complained that they couldn't get the quest cape at level 60-ish!

  7. I'd like to point out that the poll didn't limit the question to video games, indeed, it mentioned that 30% of the people that played with their kids played board or card games.

This is just a journalist taking a statistic about the failure of parents to communicate with their children and turning it into something it's not. Anyone with half a brain can read between lines and see flaws in statistics, and it's insanely easy to dismiss everything here as pure conjecture and falsehood. Ignore it. If someone is taken in by it, ignore them too.

Remember these three things about statistics when reading news and you'll be fine:

75.987% of statistics are made up on the spot.

    98% of statistics are lies.

There was a quote by Benjamin Disraeli, popularised by Mark Twain: "lies, damn lies and statistics."

Always assume that news stories like this are lying, and search for the truth. It's easier than assuming truth and searching for lies.

  8. That. Is. Genius!

I want one of those! Not entirely sure where I'd put it, as it's not like I own a message board, but I want one!

Only thing is, if it's gonna be a firefox extension, how is it gonna help? Stupid people aren't gonna put the extension on their browsers, as it's unlikely that stupid people a) use firefox, and B) know what firefox extensions are.

However, once it's done, it shouldn't be too much work for Jagex to work out a way of applying it to RuneScape. Well, ok, it might be a lot, but it won't be impossible.
