  1. I made a topic a couple of weeks ago titled 'A Bit of Variety Please Duradel' because I was having exactly this problem.

Anyway - several people suggested I change to Sumona for a bit, which I did, I'm now back on Duradel & guess what? NO CHANGE!!

My task list since returning to Duradel is as follows:

    Task No. Monster Number

    149 Black Dragons 44

    150 Abby Demons 164

    151 Black Dragons 77

    152 Fire Giants 154

    153 Fire Giants 152

    154 Iron Dragons 51

    155 Steel Dragons 47

    156 Iron Dragons 44

    157 Abby Demons 142

    158 Steel Dragons 74

    159 Iron Dragons 78

    160 Abby Demons 191

    161 Fire Giants 134

    162 Iron Dragons 44

    163 Abby Demons 176

    164 Iron Dragons 71

    165 Steel Dragons 47

    166 Fire Giants 185

    167 Fire Giants 185

    168 Fire Giants 180

The last 3 tasks have really wound me up - so boring!!

Thats the same 5 monsters that I was getting before - something must be wrong with Jagex's random task generator!!

  2. Try to stay in 1 place until the Dragons ceases to become aggressive - this will then give you time to look at your Str & Att lvl's, as well as topping up you pray between kills.

Prayer Flashing does mean you do have to pay more attention to the screen, which for long trips can become quite tiresome.

Once you get the hang of the timings it will become easy to sip a dose of Anti-Fire Pot, whist the Dragon has its attack, at this stage you will already be Melee Praying & at the worst should only miss 1 attack round.

I also find it easier to use the F4 & F6 keys to alternate between the inventories - using the mouse to switch takes more time & also can then leave the cursor in wrong place, which can be dissasterous!!

    Keep practising

  3. A tip to help you stay at Dragons longer would be to use 'Prayer Flashing' - I use this all the time at Black/Iron & Steel Dragons & using this technique I can get through a task of around 60-70 dragons on 2-3 4 Dose Prayer Pots (2 for Irons & Blacks, 3 for Steels).

This would then enable you to fill more of the inventory with Anti-Fire Pots & reduce the number of Prayer Pots you would take.

I would suggest the following inventory:-

    5 x 4 dose Anti-Fire Pots

    3 x 4 dose Prayer Pots

    2 x 4 dose Super Attack Pots

1 x 4 dose Super Str Pot (Iron Drags regularly drop 1 dose Super Str Pots)

1 x Bronze Axe to drop

    1k GP to enter

    30 Nat Runes

    150 Fire Runes

Home Teletab (or 1 x law, 1 x dust & elf Crystal or Ectophial)

    1 x DDS

This invent would still leave 7 slots free to bring 1-2 food (in case of emergencies) & also allow you to pick up any drops you may want to keep, alternatively you can increase the Prayer & Anti-Fire pots by 1 to stay that little bit longer.

Your outfit is fine - unless you are slaying in which case I would change Neitiznot to Slayer Helm - I cannot see you stats so I'm assuming no Trimmed Skill Cape.

If you plan on Melee Camping at the Iron Dragons I would use a Terrorbird to carry extra Pray, Anti-fire & Super Att pots to replace those that you use. You should use 6-7 doses of Anti-fire Pot during the life of a Terrorbird.

A DDS can make your life a lot easier - make sure you hit your Dragon 4 times with the DDS, it doesn't matter if you hit 1,1,1,1 the Dragon should normally be poisoned by the 4th hit, at which time switch to the Whip & kill normally. Depending on the speed of your killing, an extra 20-30 poison damage can save you quite a few Prayer & Anti-Fire Pots in the long run.

Good luck with Meleeing those Dragons.

  4. I've listed below my last 20 slayer tasks (most recent at top) - all have been obtained from Duradel.

    1. 55 Iron Dragons

    2. 48 Black Dragons

    3. 75 Iron Dragons

    4. 43 Steel Dragons

    5. 174 Abby Demons

    6. 42 Black Dragons

    7. 53 Black Dragons

    8. 197 Abby Demons

**** 90 Slayer achieved on this task****

    9. 136 Abby Demons

    10. 47 Iron Dragons

    11. 42 Steel Dragons

    12. 72 Steel Dragons

    13. 147 Abby Demons

    14. 58 Black Dragons

    15. 64 Iron Dragons

    16. 174 Abby Demons

    17. 148 Abby Demons

    18. 56 Iron Dragons

    19. 64 Steel Dragons

    20. 52 Iron Dragons

    (No Whips BTW)

    A theme is developing here!!!

I've blocked Black Demons, Greater Demons, Hellhounds & Kalphites. In addition to blocking, I haven't completed 'The Path of The Glouphrie' Quest, so no Warped Terrorbirds or Tortoises either.

From the KB I should therefore be able to receive the following tasks from Duradel:-

Aberrant spectres, Bloodvelds, Dagannoths, Dark beasts, Dust devils, Fire giants, Gargoyles, Goraks, Mithril dragons, Nechryael, Scabarite minions, Skeletal wyverns, Spiritual mages, Suqahs, Waterfiends.

I'm happy to keep killing Dragons in the hope of getting a Visage, but in my opinion, the whole point of Slayer was to get a bit of variety in 'monster killing'.

Has anyone else experienced the same 'problem' with Duradel tasks?

Should I switch to Sumona for a couple of tasks to try & break the run & then go back to Duradel - I'd quite like a couple of Spiritual Mage or Dark Beast tasks!!

Additionally, my signature hasn't changed since I got 90 Slayer - it normally changes itself, do I have to do something to it?

  5. Saif,

Can you get this moved to Help & Advice - less people look at the Player-Made guides, at least by moving to H&A more people will get the chance to take advantage of this neat little trick.

Alternatively, start a 'discussion' about the possibility of Jagex nerfing the Slayer Ring due to possible bug abuse!!

  6. i'm pretty sure you have to kill tarn b4 you can teleport there.

did you actually teleport there b4 killing tarn? because i think you only get that option AFTER killing him or did they change that?

a quick note: not that it matters but if you have a poh, tarn's book, after reading it, will be stored in your poh bookcase. just use book on salve amulet for (e).

You definately don't need to kill Tarn 1st to use teleport.

I suggest anyone who wants to tele straight to Tarn before doing mini-quest should do so sooner rather than later, my guess is the Slayer Ring will be 'adjusted' to stop this happening, as it kind of defeats the object of having that horrendous maze there!!

  7. Fantastic tip

I've never bothered enchanting my Salve Ammy before, because I couldn't be bothered to go thorugh the maze!!

You just got me 5k Slayer XP (now only 21333 to lvl 90) & Salve Ammy (e) - all in 2 mins!!

Whilst I was there I thought I may as well kill some Terrordogs, as i hadn't used any food on Tarn & within 10 kills I'd got a Granite Helm!!

    Gratz all round from me.

  8. uhm..my point was that I heard dragon boots where frequent...a friend of mine got one after few tries and another just after...I think its totally far fetched claiming about a bought account :S

It's not far fetched at all, if you expect d boots after 15 kills with all the slayer experience to get to 89, you're really suspicious.

The point Shivneil makes is a valid one.

It takes 2,169,181 XP to get from Lvl 83 - Lvl 89 Slayer - thats one hell of a lot of slaying. I should know i'm 50k off 89 at moment.

If you haven't had a Spiritual Mage task in earning over 2m XP then something is wrong - at this Slayer Lvl you are likely to be getting your tasks from Duradel & he tends to give you a Mages task about 1 in 20, which would suggest to me you should have had possibly 8-10 tasks over this period of time. (unless you Burthorped them, but why would you Burthorpe them?)

From the above reasoning hopefully you can see why anyone who has a high Slayer lvl would be suspicious about your post.

  9. It is all down to luck.

I was fortunate to get 3 drops in 1st 2 tasks on the day Smoking Kills was released, but haven't had drop in 9 Kurask & Turoth tasks since - well over 1k kills.

I think Jagex try & get as many of the new 'drops' into the game as soon as possible, before 'nerfing' the drop rate - Remember how frequently Spiritual Mages dopped Dragon Boots on the day they were released, before reducing the drop rates (although it seems the drop rate for D Boots is still very good!!)

My advice is keep killing them until you get drop - I know the Spear is a pain to use, but it is worth it when you finally get sword.

  10. Since my original post, i've been trying to calculate some drop values.

I think I am right is saying that the drop pile shows the highest value item on the top (if not then this is a waste of time!!).

At the moment I'm Slaying Bloodvelds & they are dropping mostly Green Charms.

The Green Charm is on top of the drop pile when there is also a drop of 120 coins, however, the coins are on the top when 140gp is also dropped. I would therefore assume that if the Green Charm was to have a monetray value it is likely to be around 130gp.

This leads me onto my next point - would 130 go be enough, bearing in mind even basic creatures such as Banshee's regularly drop 13 noted Pure Ess, which in todays GE controlled marked is work c 1400 gp.

I haven't had enough drops of the other charms to calculate their potential values, but will continue to monitor.

  11. The reason I pose this question is like most people, I've found that obtaining the various Charms is the hardest part of summoning (at these low levels anyway!!).

I am in no sense of the word a skiller - in fact I train Slayer the vast majority of my time. I'm starting to pick up quite a few Charms from my Slaying activities & this is where I feel that Jagex could bring a bit of joy to all players by making the Charms tradeable.

This would then generate a possible 'revenue' for those only interested in the combat element of the game. In addition, it would also give the non-combatants the ability to purchase the necessary raw products (ie Charms) required to progress in the Summoning skill, thus saving them a bit of time, however costing them a bit of money.

    Any thoughts?

  12. Hi, I'm just doing a Lvl 3 treasure trail clue & have got a co-ordinate clue of 12.48N 20.20E, which is not listed in the Tip.it Treasure trails guide.

The place to dig is on top of the large hill in Lvl 5 Wilderness next to where you enter Abyss - the one that shows the ladder on top if you check the map.

How do I get up to the top of the hill?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  13. I've just finished a slayer task of 177 Aberrant Spectres & I got 4 lvl 3 clues duing this task. I do alot of slayer tasks & this is 1st time i've got anywhere near that number of clues on a single task.

With the 'new' monsters in the Wilderness, doing the co-ordinate clues that take you to Wildie is a nightmare. I'm Lvl 106 & because I try & carry as little as possible when venturing into wildie I wear very little (normally just Black D hides) - even with my 84 Def i was getting my butt kicked by a lvl 105 Orc!!! :ohnoes:

Is it me, or have Jagex increased the number of Lvl 3 clue drops to get people to venture into the now dangerous wilderness?

  14. With the recent 'unlimitted' shop update & the problems this caused with bulk purchasing of certain items I notice that the Warriors Guild is now selling potatoes again - But at 420 gp each now!! Increased from an average price of 9gp before update.

I used to get the vast majority of my 'training' food from here, because it was very good value.

I would be happy for Jagex to return to limiting stcoks & 're-adjusting' prices again.

In my mind unlimmited stcok is not always a good thing.

Anyone else agree with this thought?
