  6. I have all my cards still for thank yous with addresses and what they gave me written in the cards, don't worry. I finally wrote on Sam's Facebook (Sam being the member of my class who took his own life Friday night) saying what I remember of him, hadn't constructed a complete thought until now. The past weekend still isn't real, too much happened too fast.
  7. No, not cheap for giving me $160. Cheap for saying he was giving me more and deducting things from that amount.
  8. My mom asked if I had looked at the card from my grandpa (her father). She said he'd aske if the money he was giving me was a good amount. Conversation: Me: how much did he say he'd give me? Mom: $300 Me: that's funny, I found the amount of $160 to be pretty random Not that I don't appreciate it, but my mom figures my grandpa deducted dinner and party stuff he paid for from the initial amount. She said "he couldn't really be that cheap could he?" It was silly.

The party poppers did go off at graduation, but they didn't sound too much like gunshots since the fieldhouse was so huge. I bet the custodial staff was happy to be cleaning those up for the last high school's graduation after ours.
  10. The money I got was from at my open house and from cards people sent me upon receiving announcements. And I'm going to a state school here in MN, Winona State University, apparently people outside MN occasionally hear about it but I don't think it is that special.
  11. Yeeep college.

  16. I'm probably going to be stuck on here all day. Not happy.
  17. Sure
  18. After the ceremony, took pics, late afternoon dinner with family and bestfriend, took pics after home with her in her cap and gown, headed to her small town festival, went to her graduation, had momma pick me up early to get to senior party on time, did that funness, didn't win anything (got shirt and $80 duffle bag everyone else got), went home to sleep by 4. Woke up next morning, prepped for grad party, helped friend prep for her parade, had party, got paid and socialized, hung out afterwards with peoples around, talked to great aunt, got her check, went with friend for 11pm bdubs, stayed her house.
  19. I woke up then and got ready for the day. Talked to friend about the plans for the day and how the ceremony would possibly have a different tone than expected, pulled things together, headed off to graduation. I got there to find people decorating their caps with the guy's name and tying blue ribbons to their tassels in his honor (he was going to be a Jayhawk in the fall at Kansas). The principal told us it was a suicide (the scripted calls said it was an unexpected death, as did his obituary today), and explained that he'd be reading the guy's speech and his sisters would accept his honors diploma. The ceremony was rough in the beginning, when the guy was mentioned and his speech was read - his speech was filled with his personality, I wish he'd have been there to give it. The next speech was sad too - the girl giving it was broken up over our classmate and almost made me cry because she was crying and I was already close. Afterwards, the ceremony turned brighter as expected, nothing spectacular; party poppers were used like people had planned, there was a beach ball, and it was fun.
  20. Friday evening was grad parties after grad rehearsal, then family from Virginia and California showed up right as I was called and notified of the suicide of a classmate. After greeting the family members and talking with them, I headed to the household of two teachers (also parents of a girl in my class) and heard the whole story of the young man's death, and we all dealt with the initial grief together. It was really cool how fast the word got out and all the effort everyone put in to make sure everyone knew and could get to the house if they wanted to be there even though it was past midnight on the night before graduation. It was definitely worth it to only have four and a half hours sleep going into graduation and the senior party - it was good to get everything out, and I felt an immense amount of pride for the school and class due to how well organized the entire deal was that night.
  21. Wits, summarize what I've missed and I'll summarize what I've been doing
  22. Okay I'm not reading everything I've missed since I haven't posted since 3:30 AM Saturday, but hi.
  23. That sounds quite amazing. Also:
  24. I have to wake up in about five hours, shower, do hair, and take pictures in preparation for graduation. I just came from a house full of people from my school who gathered in honor of a beloved member of our class, who committed suicide this evening. He was scheduled to speak at graduation. I feel a lot better since I already have talked about it a lot, but graduation, which starts in 9 hours, is going to be rough. Hmm.
  25. Went to three grad parties, last one was combined with birthday, watched the movie "Domino" and it was entertaining.
