  1. Ah, I should note that the homepage for ChatZilla is http://hacksrus.com/~ginda/chatzilla/ - it's hard to get the page on mozilla.org updated. At the moment, it's quite outdated. Yes, I know that the url of the homepage doesn't sound to good. No, it *is* a legitimate site (and IRC client) - or it wouldn't have gotten 4.5 out of 5 stars on http://update.mozilla.org Matt, thanks for mentioning it :P

Yeah you're kinda just knocking Cathlocism as a whole there, not the Pope. If the Pope was against these issues and beliefs, well then i don't think he would have been elected Pope to be honest. If he was pro any of those he wouldn't have been elected pope, in fact he probably wouldn't even have been a cardinal. The roman catholic position on (especially) homosexuality and contraception are very clear, rightly so. I would have to disagree. Not all catholics are against homosexuality and contraception (or damn, there would have been a lot more Catholics right now, if you get my drift). I've never heard any catholic I know in real life say they're against contraception - only that they're all for it to prevent the spreading of STD's. The fact that the pope and some of the cardinals are very conservative does not mean that the rest of the catholic church thinks the same. On a sidenote, I'm a oecumenist (if that's the right word in English), which means I'm somewhere in the middle between protestants and catholics. I sometimes attend catholic mass, and in my church there have been homosexual weddings, which are legal in Holland. I don't understand why people can't live with the fact that homosexual people can also be christians and want their weddings to be confirmed in the church as well. To me that's a very normal and natural thing, but I guess I'm in the minority here.
  3. I'm sorry, you weren't really expecting help with a subject line that makes you look like a 3 year old, a post that makes it worse, and, to top it all off, not having read the stickies? Go cry and shout about it somewhere else. If you can't play Runescape on school, then well, tough on you kid. Maybe you should do something else in school. Program your own proxy, whatever.

So what? The Catholic religion was founded on certain basic values and beliefs. A lot of these beliefs come from their version of the Bible. I'm a Protestant, but I know that the Catholic Bible is not so different from my own. And, in Leviticus, the Lord your God commands a man to "not lie with another man". The female clergy issue is another issue entirely. In my reading of the Bible, a woman must only submit herself to her husband. I guess Catholics imply this to mean they may not hold any office? In a Christian's viewpoint, God has a path for every living being. Abortion is a means of human interference with God's divine path. You are free to hold whatever beliefs you choose, but this pope is not going against anything written in his own religion. Christianity also claims all are equal in the face of God, and that mankind has been made ruler over the earth (Genesis 1). How you should read the bible is not a one-way path - it's up for a lot of interpretations. The pope represents just one of these - and a very conservative one at that. To equal the pope's beliefs with those of all the other christian's out there is simply not correct. I personally think the older books (Leviticus especially) were written so long ago, and are so bound by the morals and values of that time (over 4000 years ago) that I do not want to take what they describe all that literally. Leviticus also holds the following: (This also shows it was worse to get daughters in those times - something which is completely nonsense in most countries today)

No, it's not strange. It is believed that a pope should have enough 'experience in life'. So like bs_johannes pointed out, in practice you'll find no pope younger than 60 years of age selected. Seeing him as a human, I wish the pope a long life, as a pope, I wish he'd die or refrain from the title (won't happen) soon so we can have a more progressive one.
  6. Okay, you're asking users to either get an executable we don't know, from a site which is in no way connected to the Mozilla Foundation (as far as I can tell). Or to modify .js files, which is a *very* outdated way of configuring Firefox. If you want to configure Firefox, you should either use the Tools > Options window (as much as possible) or about:config (for anything else you want to do). They could have just made an extension instead of an executable. Now we don't know what it will do, and we are just supposed to trust the authors (which is not the case with extensions on update.mozilla.org (UMO for short) which need to be approved before being admitted, so at least there's some guarantee they won't totally mess up your computer (and a solid organisation to complain to if they do). The above will get you just as far, and will get you the same speed improvements, but without the security risk. Sounds a whole lot better than getting a random executable and praying it'll work (and not mess up your computer).

Personally, I don't think John Paul modernised the church all that much. He made a lot of progress in improving relationships with other forms of religion, but the church itself is still horribly conservative and oldfashioned. Examples are the stupid stance on anticonception, abortion, but also their stance on women's rights (women still can't become priests, officially). While John Paul was very liberal in issues concerning peace and friendship with just about the entire world, the aforementioned issues still stand, and in that way, he did not modernise at all. More like a standstill for all the time he was a pope. It doesn't look like Ratzinger will make things better, either. :(

Ignorant fool. The Vatican was under pressure to pick one within this week (I forget why), this guy was many a person's pick. If many a person's pick includes their agreement with: Then I'm happy I'm just as much of an ignorant fool as Cj, thank you very much. This pope will be another rightwinged conservative, driving people away from the ideals of Christianity just because of his stupid (excus̮̩̉̉ le mot) opinions on abortion, homosexuality and the role of women in today's society. In order to keep up with today's world, they should have picked a more progressive pope, not one that would continue to preach against contraception (which is nearly equal to pro-AIDS, in african countries).

Hate to disappoint you, but you know, there might me a tiny chance other countries also make satellite/aerial images... America isn't *that* superior... Can't be all that hard for Google to get their hands on those, seeing as they already added Canada and part of Mexico, and you can see the rest of the world to some extent (detail level sucks big time, but well...)
  10. That, and msn forces me to use IE when I check my hotmail for spam :\
  11. So? I want to get my windows updates too sometimes, you know...
  12. I'm missing either a firewall or a virus scanner (can't be bothered to try and find out which). I suppose this: C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\navapw32.e3e (CAUTION - executable file) Is either Norton's firewall or its virus scanner. Whichever you don't have, get it. Apart from unloading some of the HP stuff, which Cameron already mentioned, you would definitely want to get more RAM. Windows XP *itself* can barely run on 128MB of RAM. You should notice a vast performance improvement if you get another stick of 256 or 512 MB RAM :). (that is, if you do have a somewhat decent processor?)
  13. I am ;). The only way you can *know* someone's using something other than IE is by noticing it in the process list hjt generates.
  14. Ah right. Declaring a variable without a type gives you a variable of type Variant, which can basically become anything. I forgot the typedeclaration, to be honest, because I'm more used to write stuff in JavaScript or php now, both of which either don't have or hardly ever use typed declarations. In this case, you could also use: Dim selectedSomething As Boolean A boolean datatype can only be true or false, in case you didn't use that stuff yet. I should also note that your own example didn't work because you used: If ElseIf ElseIf End If It would have worked if you used If End If If End If If End If This is because elseif blocks only get executed if the if-condition fails. So in your own code, the code after the first elseif only got executed if the first option was true, and the code after the second one only if both the first option and the second were true. Which is impossible. Moral of the story: don't use elseif just because you have another if just before it which is very similar ;). Using Booleans is neater in this case, as you may have noticed. Something else you should note is that if you give your variables decent names, code makes more sense and becomes easier to read if you do: If Not somethingWasSelected Then ... Instead of: If somethingWasSelected = False Then ... Both give the same result when handling the boolean datatype. Using the Not operator (it's an operator) on an integer may give funny results. I wouldn't know exactly what would happen (maybe the code wouldn't even run, can't recall that).
  15. I disagree with the suggestion to get dual channel, by the way. I doubt it matters *that* much, and besides, now you have the option to put in another stick of 1GB later, which should be faster than ending up with 4 sticks of 512MB RAM (not to mention this will allow up to 4GB RAM instead of 2 :) )
  16. I just realized, you may want to keep those Yahoo homepage things. You should also try to remove the SBWatchdog stuff using the Control Panel, before trying to do it 'bluntly' by using Hijackthis.
  17. First of all, visit Windows update. Your version of IE is out of date. Very out of date. Fix: Not sure if I got it all. There's some weird stuff on there, and I presume the 'eWare' stuff is not wanted.
  18. Assuming of course that $row is a valid reference to a row in the table ;)
  19. Dim selectSomething selectSomething = (optOverNight.Value Or optDays.Value Or optWeeks.Value) If Not selectSomething Then MsgBox "Please select a delivery option first", vbOkOnly, "Error" End If Should work. Using Or makes sure that if any of them is true, the selectSomething value is true too. I may be off a bit with braces and such, it's been some time since I wrote VB :).
  20. Right, since this is for a university thing, I take it you know how to use ADO and manipulate the database. Right?
  21. I would suggest using Windows update. A new version of the installer is out, once you upgrade to that, it might just start working. Also, what version of Windows are you running? And are you sure your computer is fast enough to run the game? (I have no idea what game you're talking about, just asking...)
  22. hrm, forgot: http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Pr ... I845GV.htm http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Pr ... I845GV.htm
  23. It seems there is a problem. Your motherboard does not seem to have an AGP slot. Check in AIDA32 (somewhere in ports / slots) if this is correct, but judging from the GigaByte page you don't have one. Your motherboard also does not support PCI-E, which means that getting a new graphics card is near impossible. Could you ask your friend what he meant when he said slimline? I think he might be right that this computer will be hard to upgrade at all :(. (Memory and cpu should still be possible, but without a better graphics card it's unlikely your games will perform any better)
  24. [quote name="Posted by Andrew Gower on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=256763"]1) Text cursor moves erratical. We do not think this is RuneScape specific problem. As far as we can tell this is simple a race condition in firefox's textbox code such that if the computer is at 100% CPU load the text cursors no longer moves properly. You can reproduce this bug by loading up ANY java applet that uses 100% cpu and then trying to type into the address bar or any of firefoxes windows. The reason only some people see this is people with very fast computer can play runescape without hitting 100% cpu. Write yourselves a simple test applet that uses several threads to thoroughly eat all the cpu and then you'll see it happening. So your current best bet is: 1) Update JAVA & Firefox, see if it helps 2) getting a faster computer or playing on low detail or turning off other programs you run in the background 3) Nag Jagex to make their code use less CPU. In the mean time, volunteers from all over the world will be working on a lot of stuff for Firefox, including trying to fix your problem :).
