dont bring any armor at all. I didnt use armor when i did this quest when i was lvl 78. Just use monks robes and a prayer book. Some food and 2 prayer pots was what i used. I can't see why this is a master quest. The hardest part of this quest was the Puzzle you had to solve.

if you want fast and easy xp go to pest control. Another way would be to camp out at the Experiments or go to the Dagganoths in the lighthouse. Dagganoths dont hit that much and are agressive and it is multi combat zone.
