  1. I ate a weed cookie last night and the effects have finally worn off. Jeez. That was definitely too intense. It started out pleasant but eventually I got really anxious and it wasn't fun anymore.

I got drunk at Walmart with a couple friends the other night and that was a lot better.

  2. I've arrived back home after a ~6 day vacation to Chicago with my parents. It was my first time being there, and it was pretty awesome. We did most all of the standard touristy stuff, which was enjoyable. Easily the highlight for me was visiting the Art Institute of Chicago. I've been somewhat interested in art for a while now, but going to the museum and seeing paintings right in front of you that you'd only ever seen before in textbooks or online was amazing and really reinvigorated my interest in the topic. Seeing a Jackson Pollock piece in person was crazy, with how you could see the paint in like three dimensions physically protruding from the canvas. The place was absolutely huge, you probably would've needed multiple days to view every piece and read all the plaques and stuff. art is cool!!!!

o ya the view from the sears tower and stuff was pretty sick too i might post a picture sooner or later

First driving lesson ended ~20 minutes ago. Went really well imo, and I'm assuming "Are you sure you've never driven a car before?" is a complement.

All those hours on Mario Kart apparently help

"are you sure you've never driven before, because there has been a spate of unsolved hit and runs recently and long story short i'm calling the police"

    Oh.

    @Gwyn

Manual, gear changing was the only thing that took a while to get used to. Kinda surprised I was allowed to drive on public roads within ~20 minutes of starting, but I guess I kinda knew the concepts behind driving already... Might be why it was easier? Idk.

Or maybe you just expected a very basic exercise to be more difficult than it is in reality.

I always  laughed when people made "OMG driving is so easy i must be a driving god" posts on Facebook.

Like... did you expect it to be like flying a 787?

you think flying an airplane is challenging? lollll. you must think a very basic exercise is more difficult than it is in reality. Try flying a Quantum Turbo-Hydraulic Human Transportation Device™ like I do everyday.

  4. People who don't logically think about health-related things. My friend is vegan and always says stupid shit like how eating vegan cures incurable cancer (...) and generally praises the health benefits of veganism, but then he'll inhale tons of toxic smoke multiple times a day as he smokes pot. And then he'll proceed to eat over a thousand calories of potato chips and cookies that happen to be vegan in one sitting when he gets the munchies. Yeah, I'm the unhealthy one because I eat grilled skinless chicken breast with my fruits and vegetables and I happen to exercise regularly and not smoke every day.

  5. Today I saw the movie Boyhood. Easily one of my favorite movies of all time. I urge you all to see it, it was fantastic. It's got like 99% on Rotten Tomatoes for a reason.

  6. Haha yeah I started listening to them in like September, pre-explosion in popularity. I knew it was gonna happen. This is the first time they've come to WA since then. I definitely would've liked to have seen them before they started selling out huge venues and shit, but oh well. I'll just be happy if I ever get to see 'em live. My friend got like a 1/100 test press vinyl of their debut album for like $20 which now apparently sells for hundreds of dollars (he sold it for a lot less than that, so he's pretty bummed out; I warned him).

  7. I guess I'd try LSD, but I don't really have any urge to do it right now or anything. I guess a couple of my friends found a possible source for mushrooms though, and they asked if I wanted to try that with them, and I'd do that since another friend of mine spoke very highly of the experience. I've been smoking pot with friends more frequently recently. I generally enjoy it, but honestly if I never had to smoke again in my life I wouldn't really care that much. I don't really get relaxed at all, I mostly just get disoriented and my brain goes into overdrive and I become hyperaware of my body. It's still nice, and everything is funny and food tastes good, but getting high is honestly like too much work. Oh and I apparently have the lungs of an 8 year old girl so smoking it is always unpleasant. At least I have a pretty low tolerance.

    I definitely prefer getting drunk.

  8. We switched our internet to Comcast instead of CenturyLink because it was actually cheaper. As bad of a company as Comcast is, at least our internet is significantly faster now. CenturyLink blows.

  9. One perk of being a psych major: plenty of girls. RPG can probably back me up on that. It's like 75% women to 25% men nowadays. In one of my quiz sections last year, there were about 22 girls vs. me and 1 other guy in the class. I actually wish there were more dudes in some of my classes.

  10. Getting settled into my new apartment. It's really awesome, except the person before me smoked in the bathroom so it smells like cigarettes, even though it says no smoking in the lease. Here's a few pictures of the view...

The mountain is Rainer, and you can see it in the far left of the panorama (make sure you click to view it larger). It's a little cloudy, because it's Seattle.

My car and stuff is being shipped from Minneapolis, but they're both 2 weeks late so far. So, I've been sleeping on an air mattress in an empty apartment with three pairs of clothes for two weeks :(

Jesus, and I thought I had a good view. If you're ever planning on throwing any ragers at that place, let me know.  :D

  11. ^ That exact same thing happened to me for about a week a while back, it was kind of worrying but eventually it just stopped. I have no idea what caused it, maybe allergies or stress or something. But yeah if it concerns you then definitely see a doctor.

on a completely unrelated note, here's a picture of me with a couple of my friends that I took last night. I don't really understand what led to this being taken. I'm in the middle.

  12. Well that problem with my phone constantly being awake seems to have fixed itself somehow, no idea why since I didn't really do anything. It'll probably come back soon, but oh well, it survived today....

Also, got my new DSLR in the mail today. Just learning the basics for now, but I'm excited to attempt taking some actual pictures tomorrow.

  13. @Ring: most likely, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm pretty sure it's some rogue app that's starting itself up when the phone in locked, but currently I'm trying to find out what it is via some app that detects "wakelocks."

@Bonez: yeah, a little bit, but I usually turn it off and go to charge it. I don't think it's really relevant though, because the phone becomes awake at random times in the day.

  14. If anyone is even moderately knowledgeable about Android phones, please let me know. I'm having an issue where my device is strangely depleting the [bleep] out of my battery for some reason.

In the "Power" section in the settings, it's showing that my phone is "awake" for hours at a time even when I'm not using it at all. It just started this a few days ago, when I noticed that my battery was suddenly horrible. Sometimes it stops being "awake" except for when I'm actually using the phone, but it seems like most of the time now it's doing this crap. Here's a screenshot so you can visualize it.

Clearly something happens after like 6pm, but I have no idea what. I've tried Googling to no real avail. Help plz. I know I should technically post this in that tech forum but I also know that nobody actually goes there and no one would see this so ya

  15. I bit the bullet and decided to buy my first DSLR camera. In about a week or so I should have a Canon Rebel T5 on my doorstep. It's nothing fancy, very entry-level, but I'm excited to start learning how to use it.
