  2. I actually made a thread about a wild clue coordinance that's changed... (hobgoblin mine one) not sure whether it belongs here or not, as it comes under Treasure Trails guide. The link is: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=730494
  3. 20 Degrees, 7 minutes north, 18 Degrees, 33 minutes east. It seems to be where the new Hobgoblin mine is (moved with the revamping of the wilderness). Edit:
  4. I really hate people who judge by combat.... 4 99's INCLUDING smithing and crafting is not a low lvl. I am talking about somebody who is 50 combat, walks around in their mix of addy and rune armor, and maybe has one or two skills above 70. Eshtoal, I'm assuming you are also talking about a skiller? I mean a "newb" if you will? I've met tons who follow the rules. I know I did when I was knew. Maybe not the best example, but a good friend (p mod) with only 8 stats ranked in high scores, total not ranked, 5 stats over 70. She was modded a few months after myself, is pure f2p and was about level 60 at the time. Being a moderator is not based on stats, but obviously people who play more will acrew more experience, and you have to be in it to win it, so the saying goes. EDIT: Just rememered another name. Look up Wise Alexei please. Edit 2: Hope you weren't serious about killing yourself :|
  5. You honestly believe that? If you can name a player mod who is low lvled I will go kill myself. And don't say there aren't low lvled dedicated players. Hands up who's met a lvl 3 moderator? *raises hand*
  6. I actually rather resent that (even though I know that's just your opinion :)). Prior to being a moderator, I was never anything other than myself, and I would never suck up to anyone. I'd never so much as spoken to a moderator, and had only seen probably 2 at most before I became one. I knew about moderators but doubted I'd ever become one. I minded my own business, and concentrated on reporting scammers, macroers, account traders (who are usually scammers) and advertisers. I get the crown thieves a lot :(. Fortunately, I tell them the crown is stuck on with supa-ultra-mega-glue for which only Jagex has the antidote ;) As for people getting chosen for player mods... it has nothing at all to do with stats or levels ;). It's based on (but not limited to) in-game attitude, politeness and maturity. Also, good use of language (spelling, grammar, punctuation) always looks good, and of course, accurate reports, will be a huge help ;P. More information on player mods is available, of course, either through the Runescape Knowledge Base, or by talking to a Town Crier ;)
  7. 1. Hate to say this, but ignorance of the law is no defence. Whether someone is aware of the rules or not, they're there to be read and they're not hard to find. And I'm pretty sure Tutorial Island mentions something about rules of conduct... 2. You're not meant to warn people or tell them what to do. You report abuse when/where you see it, if you feel it is appropriate to do so. It is up to Jagex to deal with, and not your responsibility. However.... mod camping out waiting for rule breakers a little low... Anything better to do, pl0x?
  8. Admittedly, there are bad player moderators out there, and it's really sad to see. Every person who says to me that they've seen a mod behaving "unmodly" I tell them to not be afraid of reporting them if they are breaking the rules (because so many are afraid). It is unfortunate for the rest of us that so few make such a bad image on the rest. But one my principles is to never judge everyone in a group by the example of individuals. And most other people who have problems with moderators, (as Ltfairy rightly said) are people who have been muted/banned by moderators, or, in my opinion (in addition) wrongly believe that a Player Moderator somehow has something to do with the banning or the penalties of an account. I personally get caught up, while in the middle of doing things, to stand around and talk to people and answer questions as best as I can and chat to random people (of all levels), until I quite often forget what I was doing in the first place :P. I often add random people, usually from the chat I visit, when they need to ask a question or for advice. I also give advice to people wanting to become moderators (preferably if they ask the right way, and not: "Z0mg how did you get that silver star thing next 2 ur name?"). If I get asked game related questions, I answer to the best of my memory/knowledge, or refer them to somewhere they can find for themselves. (Another of my principles is to encourage people to work things out for themselves, so I will never take someone somewhere or do specialised quest help (doing the quests once was enough in my opinion :P); I'll point them in the direction to enable them to work it out themselves). However, I'm far, far from perfect, and I don't pretend to be. I have bad days, bad moods. I have been short with players who've irritated me on one of these days. Some days, you just want to be left alone, and to answer someone while firemaking will involve answering questions for the next half hour, and the same sort of questions like "Howd u becom a madorator? is it a random event? do you get paid? do you get free membrship?" become too much to bare. In these cases, my principle is, if I've got nothing nice to say, i'll say nothing at all, lol. You get sick of being asked the same questions over and over and over... The ones that annoy me most of all are the questions which the answers to are readily available to everyone by talking either to a Town Crier or reading the Knowledge Base about Player Moderators, but some people are just too lazy. Strangely enough, it seems to be these questions we get the most. Having said this, you may ask, why be a player moderator? There are varied reasons why people would be one, and sometimes it takes conscious thought as to why I am still one (10 months and counting :)). For some people, it's undoubtedly Power, which is the saddest thing of all, and these people represent the moderators that people have problems with. For me, it would be the feeling that you make a difference. Even though the crown is very shiny.... (drifts off....mmm purdy...) anyway, it's very nice, but it's not the only reason for being a Moderator. Standing out is another nice perk... not to attract attention (but it's nice to make a joke and have everyone listen and have a giggle, and join in too, and have people want to have a chat to you) but to be recognised as a dedicated player, and hopefully one who's earned their status. We do have power. We have the power of, as I've said, to stand out. We have the power as role models and the power to have a direct influence in game, even if it is to get an advertiser banned or mute an item scammer. Might not mean a lot to you, but means a lot to me ;) I know when I warn people not to break rules, it's never intended to be bossy and annoying (and I certainly hope it doesn't appear so). It's just that I've had so many friends and met so many players who have received black marks for jokes or slip ups (a friend got reported for saying a joke along the lines of: "gets on mod account and mutes you" to someone who was goading them, another old friend got reported in clan chat for saying something along the lines of "that is gey"), and I'm just trying to prevent this from happening to them. As for the humourless comment... I have never met a person, even one not particularily partial to mods, who I haven't been able to weedle a small laugh out of, even if it was a rather lame joke ;) I use it as a ice-breaker I suppose... and somehow a sense of humour makes you appear more human :P And laughs (whether cheap or not) is one of the main reasons I play the game, and still continue to play. I have never met a player who, giving me the chance, I haven't been able to charm ;). I also have some mod friends who've had me in stitches of laughter as well, so, we're not all that boring, lol. Having said all this, the majority of us do not ask for any special treatment. We do not ask for extra respect, to be worshipped, etc etc. With most (good) mods, walk up to them and have a chat, and they'll have a chat and a laugh back. Do not talk to them differently because they are a mod (and for God's sake, please don't say: "Plz don't ban me!" for no reason =/) (but maybe keep within the rules when you do so :P) So my conclusion (I'm making this up as I go so it doesn't look quite like I'm really babbling as much as I am), don't judge all moderators by the actions of a few. Bad moderators are like black sheep; they stick out. You may meet 10 moderators... and it takes just one of those to be bad to make you notice them and not the others, and therefore have a bad opinion of them all (there's a psychological theory about this, but I can't remember it at the moment, and these things seem to bore everyone anyway :P). So, my advice? Treat everyone as an invidual, and don't judge the whole flock by a few black sheep ;P
  9. Having been a f2p'er for a long time before my very first membership, and being mainly focused on Mining/smithing, I enchanted a collection of Ruby Rings, and smithed iron bars. I then made arrow heads, and fletched my way to 40(ish) on the very same day. How very sad ;)
